Located on Merchant's Square, the Kimball Theater is the venue for a variety of performances. We have seen conversations with historical figures (eg. Patrick Henry), concerts, movies and on this visit a comedy ensemble portraying an 18th century traveling show. The audience for "A Grand Medley of Entertainment" roared with laughter and the giggles from the children were a delight to hear. The show was PG, at times very silly, but an enjoyable evening non the less. Check the weekly Colonial Williamsburg Program Guide for the schedule of performances. Tickets can be purchased on site or at the Visitors Center.

The actor who played. Jefferson took questions from the audience and did an exceptional job of answering the question while weaving in his memorized script. Very well done.

Lovely Historic Theater

Check the schecule which changes often. The theater seats only 400 so there is not a oribken that a larger theater often has with sight lines etc

A beautiful little theater located in Merchant's Square.

After an initial closing the theatre is open again under the management of William & Mary college. This is a great venue to view many different types of performances from comedy to concerts - most notably the home of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra that performs a series of Masterworks concerts, as well as, the Holiday Pops concert during Grand Illumination weekend. Wonderful performances and a wonderful venue in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg's Merchant Square.

While eating, we came across 4 actors from this production. They made us laugh and encouraged us to see their play.

It was not a planned activity but I am glad we went. It was the highlight of an otherwise awesome day in Colonial Williamsburg.

Funny play with audience participation. My kids are 12 and 10. They could not stop laughing and singing after the play. We were equally entertained! ENCORE!!
The actors even remembered my kids after the play, when we took pictures with them.

We do not have time to see some of their other plays, but I am sure that they would be equally entertaining.

Highly recommend this for families, especially with kids with ages around mine. It was right in their wheel house.

This theatre is on Merchant's Square, and it's a fantastic venue! If ever in Williamsburg, be sure to check their lineup for the dates you're there. Great for concerts, plays, or lectures.

As a new Williamsburg resident, I am ashamed that I haven't been to the Kimball Theater sooner. I went to see a movie and chose a showing in the Screening Room. Delightful. This room -- upstairs but accessed by stairs or an elevator -- is small with a still large screen. I had an unobstructed view as did my friend. (I don't like to reveal that this room is available apart from the larger theater because now I might have more difficulty obtaining a ticket).

I really loved being part of a small audience, The audience was more likely to chuckle out loud and express other emotions which were nice to share. Ticket prices are very reasonable, although the films available are not quite current releases. I thought our film was somewhat artsy but many that are shown in this room and at the larger theater would be considered art films. In fact, there are several film festivals coming soon which promise to be truly artistic.

Dramatic, symphonic, and other musical performance are also held at the Kimball Theater proper. All in all we had a most pleasant experience with free popcorn and a docent willing to share Williamsburgian and Kimball Theater tips before and after the showing. Hope to see you there.

We saw Spamalot over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the show. The cast was engaging, and the price for two, $48, to see a live performance was a great value.

However, the process to get INTO the show was terrible. I ordered our tickets through the Colonial Williamsburg reservation system over the phone, since I was already making dinner reservations. There was a problem with our tickets - we were told they had already been pulled - but it was investigated and fixed only after everyone else approaching the box office was helped, which was essentially when the show started. I feel our problem should have been addressed promptly.

The seating is general/unassigned. As we watched all the theater-goers file in before us, we were left with seats in the last row. Had the reservation system worked properly, we would have had better seats.

However, the theater was small, and even though we were sitting in the last row we had a very good view.

I would recommend, though, to make your reservations online, even if you have to make them by phone for tavern dining.

Saw Spamalot at the Kimball Theatre over Columbus Day weekend. Very cool little theatre – doubt there’s a bad seat in the house. The performance was top notch! Would love to catch some other shows there in the future.

The grandchildren ask to see this show every time they visit, and we, the grandparents, are happy to oblige. The comedy is fresh, wholesome, and extremely entertaining for all age groups. The actors are masters of the double entendre. A wink. A nod. A bow. Superior family entertainment.
