If was reviewing just course conditions , a weak two . Interesting layout , great natural setting , people working the course we're very nice , pace of play was great and the weather was perfect . All this worked to its advantage . Now to course . Tees bare , fairways at times full of weeds, sand traps ,... More

Played Stonehouse today, first time in.several years. Course has deteriorated to point of no return. Greens terrible, being heat stressed. Many bare spots. Fairways I poor condition due to lack of maintenance. Sand bunkers are unplayable. Current management has failed to maintain what was an OK track to now unplayable.Rough has not been maintained, weeds everywhere. Overall worse than any... More

Another Mike Strantz course and if you like Mike's course design as much as I do, then you will appreciate playing here. I found each hole to have its own personality - in other words, I never got bored. On a toughness scale, Stonehouse is not as tough as Mike's Tobacco Road or Royal New Kent, but it's far from... Decided to play Stonehouse on my way home from the Tidewater area. Played Royal New Kent last year as the back half of a 36 hole day......which proved to be a mistake based on the difficulty of the course. Stonehouse is managed by the same group (same designer too) and I figured I would give it a shot since I... More

I am a local who plays once a week in summer. Was asked to play this course with friends and decided to accept. That decision was a mistake. Pretty much every tee shot is a blind shot from the tee as you need to aim for white markers. The bunkers are non exist an and the fairways are poor as... More

Stonehouse is a complex, difficult, Mike Strantz design which also makes it expensive to maintain. There's the rub. They don't, at least not very well. This course has a lot of large, complex bunkers. Many of the fairway bunkers are washed out and not maintained at all. They weren't marked as GUP but should have been. While most of the... More

This is a golf course that you don't want to play if you're not a good golfer, because it is WAY too hard. And you don't want to play it if you ARE a good golfer the layout is terrible. Blind shots on almost every hole, deep gullies right, left and centre. Pass.

Great course. Played nine holes. Great price. Great service. Played for half price because they were aerating the greens. Rentals clubs were very high quality... I managed to drive the crap out o that driver!

This is a course I just can't seem to embrace. I hated it the first time I played, had a much better impression the second time, and it left me luke warm the third time. It is a Mike Stanz design and you get a good sampling of his signature elements. Too many blind shots and other gimmicks for me,... More
