The people in the Wythe House provide an interesting glimpse of the daily activity of one of the more prominent men in Williamsburg. You can step in the front room and stand in the same room where George Washington planned the seize of Yorktown which enabled the US to become a country. The people working this building have a wealth of knowledge and will take time to share it with you if you ask them. A sort of self guided tour which allows them them to be free to become involved.

George Wythe House and grounds were lovely. After a short introduction we were able to stroll the grounds to see the outbuildings before entering the house. In the house we saw several decorated rooms at our leisure.

While I did not go in the George Wythe house, did go into the Peyton Randolph house nearby and all around colonial Williamsburg which is a great place year round. Try to do something new each trip. This year was the Randoloh house and the Museum with all the furniture and China, and silver displays. Don't miss the shopping and the food and the candy store. The historical reenactments and personification are outstanding. ENJOY.

Why visit this location? The house is original - you will walk where some (likely most) of America's greatest Colonial leaders walked. Learning about George Wythe is a treat. A self taught lawyer, mentor to Thomas Jefferson, a true leader.
Like other locations, Virginia's COVID restrictions limit visitors to the ground floor. If you have mobility issues, the steep front steps with no railings would be a challenge.
A plus of our visit during a hot July morning was being to sit in the shade waiting to go in. The docents who worked there were amazing as always. This was another of many visits to the house and I heard (maybe I had heard and it had not registered) that George Wythe never owned the house. It was built by his wife's father who let them live in it. When she died her father took it back!
The cooper was working in one of the outbuildings on the day of our visit. The kids enjoyed seeing their chickens. The grounds are beautiful with a large amount of colorful annuals!

A very informative attraction to visit. The actors and actresses are very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Wythe was a very impressive guy and his house is nicely done to educate and inform visitors about his role in colonial times.

This is a great stop in Colonial Williamsburg - you get to tour the house and the gardens at your own leisure, which is a real plus. There are also plenty of CW staff available inside and out to answer any questions and help you fully understand the house. This house is included in the CW ticket so don't miss it!

I asked a tour guide if those were slave quarters and he insisted they were “workers” houses. Then when I went over and spoke to the other tour guide I was informed that yes those “worker’s houses” were for the enslaved. Why can’t that tour guide say the word slave?

The Wythe House was one of my favorite stops in colonial Williamsburg. I loved hearing about the history of the place and the part George Wythe played in our american history. If you take the Haunted Williamsburg tour - you will come back to the Wythe House. It was a great experience and i would recommend it as a stop.

I was told by a local tour guide, in the SilverSmith's Home, not to miss this "special" home. George Wythe was a law professor and mentor to Thomas Jefferson. The home and the grounds with outbuildings was very special. The tour is self guided but there individuals there to answer questions. I enjoyed seeing some of the outbuildings and the workers and information provided there as well. Nice!

My grandmother told me my grandfather restored the Wyeth house? I can't find any info to back this up? Do you know if James Gutierrez ever restored this home?

Have no idea but you might contact the Williamsburg Historical Society for an answer to your question. I am sure you can find them on line.

The Wythe House is part of Colonial Williamsburg, so the admission is within the ticket price for Colonial Williamsburg as a whole -- not a separate admission fee or available alone.
Location is right behind Bruton Parish Church.
Thanks for asking. Enjoy Williamsburg!
