As the second oldest ghost tour in the USA, The Original Ghosts of...

As the second oldest ghost tour in the USA, The Original Ghosts of Williamsburg Candlelight Walking Tour stands above all others as the most authentic and successful ghost tour in Williamsburg. With exclusive use of the copyrighted research and writings of acclaimed paranormal author L. B. Taylor, Jr. our tours are based on verifiable facts and actual hauntings, not fabricated tales or unsourced stories. Our seasoned and mature guides are talented and entertaining storytellers who bring the hauntings to life, drawing guests into the experience with them. Paranormal events do happen on our tours, and we will take you to secret locations where the hauntings are likely to occur. So be sure to bring a camera along with your courage!

Our 30 year old, 90 minute family friendly Original Ghost Tour meets at the William & Mary Bookstore in Merchants Square. In 2012 we launched the first late night adult ghost tour, the EXTREMELY successful Extreme Tour. This 2 hour tour is for ghost lovers who like being scared. The Extreme Tour meets at Bruton Parish Church.

Our guides proudly carry lanterns but we won’t dress up and play act or hype ourselves then fail to deliver what we promise. For the last three decades we have toured many thousands of happy guests who return year after year, knowing that nobody does a ghost tour like we do. After all, we invented them!

Authentic stories, small groups, talented storytellers with a genuine love of entertaining, coupled with reasonable prices make us the most enduring and elite ghost tour in Williamsburg. Don’t take our word for it. Check out our website to view hundreds of genuine testimonials and breathtaking pictures. After all, “seeing is believing!”

My wife wanted to go on a ghost tour during our trip to CW. We went on the original tour which started in daylight but we were in darkness by the end. My wife enjoyed the tour & ghost related stories. To me (a non ghost believer), the tour was more an interesting historical tour. Having been on all night... More

We decided to take this tour to learn a little bit of history in a fun sort of way. We have 2 little boys who also enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Rick was so knowledgeable and entertained each and every one of us. He got all of us involved in the stories that he told. History was definitely a... More

Thank you for sharing your family's experience. You could not find a more genuine person than Rick, who loves getting guests of all ages involved in his tour. Your family heard true ghost stories, and two little boys learned that history is fun! More

We had a good time! We did both the original tour and the extreme. Liked the extreme better. Both tours very similar but with the extreme having some more interesting tales, plus less people wandering about. Description says use of ghost hunting/detection equipment, but this was a toy you can buy online called Ghost Hunter Pro that was set to... More

Wow! Did you take both tours on the same night???!!! You must be an avid fan of ghost stories! Thank you for mentioning that we do not have a "cheesy haunted house kind of tour". True stories, well told on the actual site, can be very scary. Our guides have seen, heard, and felt the unexpected... no "cheesy haunted house"... More

This tour was very enjoyable. A mix of ghost tales and real history of colonial Williamsburg. Our tour guide, Rick, was great and made the tour super fun. Definitely worth the money spent.

Thank you! We enjoy feedback from our guests. You have written many reviews and obviously love to travel. We are delighted that you liked our tour, and agree that Rick's tour is "super fun"! He is one of our more experienced and requested guides, and has as much fun telling stories as his guests do hearing them. More

Tour guide was excellent! Grand kids ages 15, 12, 9 were excited at the beginning of the tour and remained intrigued the whole time! Guide told great stories , made it interesting for all adults and kids. Bring a flash light, after it gets dark it might be handy for seeing your walking path. We did not bring one but... More

Your review is is both helpful and thoughtful, and the advice about comfortable shoes and flashlights is spot on! It was a great idea to purchase L.B. Taylor’s book for your grandchildren. Besides being a good momento of their visit with you, the book will be more meaningful because they have experienced Colonial Williamsburg, the site where the events happened.... More

We enjoyed this walking ghost tour very much. Stories were very interesting and informative. Definitely would change a sceptics mind if you take lots of pictures. Wear comfortable shoes and watch out for the smelly land mines. Also don't forget a tip which is well deserved!!

Thank you for your informative review. We have two tours, our 30 year old family friendly Original tour that set the standard for ghost tours in the USA, and our Extreme tour that paved the way for scary, late-night ghost tours. It sounds as though you enjoyed the tour you chose, making us very happy indeed. When you are in... More

Did a Friday night ghost tour which started at 8pm and ended around 9:30pm. Great guide (retired female teacher) who had some wonderful historic vignettes to share with our group. She kept the tour moving along (literally and figuratively) and it was a nice evening.

Our family-friendly 8 o’clock tour must have hit the mark from your description. We are so pleased! Our team of guides consists of former (or current) teachers, members of the military, and other retired professionals who enjoy storytelling and ghosts. You enjoyed our stories and your storyteller! Thank you, Clarence, for your thoughtful and helpful review. More

Remember, this is not a ghost HUNT. It is a tour of various ghost stories around Colonial Williamsburg. Keeping that in mind, we had a good time. The guide was entertaining and engaging, we would def do it again.

Thank you Ashley for your review and for mentioning that while we do use ghost hunting equipment, our tour is not a ghost hunt.
