I think it is closed as a winery. The signs are down.

The signs are down. I believe the winery is closed. I live in the neighborhood and there have been reports of a tussle with the local homeowners association that has caused the winery to close. I don’t know if there are plans to reopen it. It was a nice venue.

Nothing bad about the place but not for us.
Apr 2017 • Couples
Being that we (group of 6 of us) just left Mediterranean ... The place was empty.
Service was OK. The cost compared to Mediterranean was extremely high (when we were there) and then the wines .. Well like any place you some of this and some of that .. Well for us, the wine was just "OK".. I am sure there are some whom felt it was great. BUT that is what is so great about wine.

The highlight of the visit (also sad part on the business) was that there was an older gentleman whom came in behind us. He had a few tastings then just left... The pourer thought the man was with us

Being honest, We might have had a different perspective or out take if went had not have just left Mediterranean Cellars and not have had one on one with the owner.

Not memorable
Oct 2017 • Couples
When i look for wineries in the area and this location come up, and we go... I;ve been here a handful of times over the years and each time we end up thinking its our first time there until we start drinking the "okay" wine.

The location is just not very memorable, We keep forgetting we have been here, and the wine doesnt make a mark for us either... Now that i've written this, i'll remember our subpar visits.

A High 3.5 of 5 Score!

My wife and I considering ourselves being somewhat of wine conneusers, we're lucky to live in a state that offers so many vineyards and makes it so easy to go wine tasting often - making day outings incredibly enjoyable by either doing picnics, wine tastings, tours or just outright relaxing. Wine is, as most dining, a very subjective experience and varies to one's own palate and preference. Rather than try to compare one winery, vineyard, grape or wine to another, I have developed a scoring method that will give both the occasional novice wine taster or the most sophisticated connoisseur a bearing which to select each establishment by, based on our single, or sometimes multiple visits to each location. My guidelines are: beauty of location and its scenery; the establishment's appearance and ambience; the owner/operators' attention to their customers and hospitality; activities, events and/or meals/munchies/entertainment; wine selection, quality, taste and varieties; and heavily weighted on our taste; as well as value - consistency and price of the product. The scale being 1 the worst, 5 the best and recommend as regular patrons. Personally, this is one of the wineries we enjoy returning to. Scoring a 3.5! We continue to frequent Marterella despite it having been, until recent times our #2 'go to' winery, second only to Mediterranean - in recent years, with the advent of legal issues draining on the establishment, their product does not appear, to our taste, to be as fabulous as it once was. They still have the homey friendliness and customer accommodation, no small thanks to Kate's (the owner) unflinching persistence to make the best of bad circumstances - things have taken its toll on their product. But this, by no means is to say the wines are not good - they just do not appear to be of the same standard they were until a few years ago... but still worthy of being one of the top ten wineries my wife and I frequent. Some of our favorites include: Vidal Blanc; Chardonnay; Cabernet Franc; and especially their Barrel Select! Check it out.

Really nice

It has been several years since I visited Marterella. It is better than I remember. The wines are pretty good. Cute winery. Personal people. This can be a fun place to visit. And they have adorable dogs.

Beautiful view, great people
We pulled up on a Harley, dressed in black. There was a lady filling up her atv so we asked her to fill us up too, we were just kidding but she was really going to fill us up too. What a great beginning to a great winery. This happened to be the owner. We were a bit early and welcomed in immediately. The wine was delicious. Our wine tasting girl was friendly and knowledgeable. They served pizza from there outside wood burning oven, had a nice assortment of cigars and two friendly labs. They also had wine slushees that are yummy. Even the other guest were friendly, everyone sharing in conversation. I gave this winery a 4 star only because of the price of the bottled prices, $25-$35, however well worth the price. We will go back !

We Continue to Luv it here!
May 2015 • Couples
We've been many more times since first visiting and each time we go we feel welcomed and enjoy relaxing with their nice wines while enjoying the beautiful views of their vineyard and the nearby rolling hills.

For the warmer months they are offering "adult slushies" which are made perfectly! Not too sweet, but definitely flavorful!

Worth a stop, if you're nearby!!

This is, perhaps, one of the most beautiful areas of the county.

Marterella is one of the newest in the area, but don't let that fool you! The wine is perfection, pair it with your food or their brick oven pizza! Fun, friendly perfect for couples,or a family. Children and pets friendly! Just remember, somebody has to be the designated driver! Be safe!

Cool Pizza Oven
Apr 2014 • Couples
Had a cool pizza oven outside in the patio area, but that was the highlight of the visit. The person helping us with the tasting was not friendly at all, and it wasn't because they were busy. There were all of five people in the place. The wines were very average.
