A small microbrewery with an outdoors feel. It has a second level for events. Shared bathrooms, $12 a flight, and about a 12-minute walk west from the beach. It is nice for a couple-hour stop.

Fun day after Christmas outing with our daughter, son & DIL, Back Bay Brewing was a great first stop! I enjoyed the 3 taster sized ciders, they were all very good. Our DIL liked the orange crush beer the best.

Great selection of beer, fun atmosphere and very nice bartenders! We came here for trivia done and organized by an outside company and while that wasn’t a great experience, Back Bay made it better with the beer and friendly staff!

Stopped in for a beer with my husband. Tried the Pumpkin beer, it really did not taste very pumpkiny to me, much more like an Ocktoberfest. My husband had an IPA. Spoke with server a little while, nice, friendly staff.

The beer is mediocre. The staff is rude. I think quite a few of them are drinking on the job. There is good vibes and the area is nice at first, but then you realize the beer is not that great and the staff is not very kind. There are lots of choices for beer in the area. You would do well do go somewhere else.

After a great lunch at the local restaurant next door to this pub, we stopped by for a few beers before heading back out to the beach. The place was catching us by surprise and it is clean, nicely decorated and very friendly services. The menu has a few good selections of IPA. Highly recommended.

There is plenty of parking around, which is a plus in this part of VAB, the lighting is dark but they have a decent ambiance, they don’t serve food but they have a decent selection of beer. Heavy on the IPAs. The service is good and the staff knowledgeable, worth a visit.

Took an impromptu three-day trip to Virginia Beach just to get away from reality between Christmas and New Year's. Saw Back Bay was having a trivia night: I love both trivia and craft beer. Took my 20-year-old daughter along. Had a great time drinking beer (or water in her case) and competing against the regulars. The bartender was polite and the atmosphere was lively.

Of all the breweries I tried while vacationing in VB, this is my favorite. I walked in on a Thursday afternoon, the day TS Michael was forecasted. The place wasn't very crowded, but that only means I got personalized service by the attentive server.
I liked all the beers I tried ($2 for 4 ounces). My favorite is the Mango Hefeweizen, a crisp wheat beer with a subtle aftertaste of mango. Its ABV is only 5%, which I find ideal for wheat beer. The dunkel is also good. The coco milk stout has a good body, and the seasonal Witch of Pungo pumpkin beer a nice spicy kick. The False Cape Ale is also sold in some of the local restaurants.
This place isn't very big, but I like the ambiance. A few beer tanks are up front. This place would be crowded and loud on a busy weekend night.
FYI the BB Farmhouse on the west side of town does not sell all the same beers. The mango hefeweizen is only sold at the Norfolk Ave location.
There is a very good Mexican restaurant next door, and a pizza shop in the rear. You can bring outside food in, but not drink.

This must just be a local dive bar, because they sure don’t want any new customers.
No “hello”, “How are you are you today” or even a “welcome”. No acknowledgment at all, even though we were definitely seen by the bar staff. Just a cold stare and rolled eyes when I did finally get to ordered.
The girls behind the bar were more interested in talking with each other about there weekend and the shoes they were ordering online, then serving the customers.
There was Dirty glassware stacked up on ALL of the tables. Even tho there was only a dozen customer or so in the bar. The bartenders actually looked upset at me when I cleared my own table and brought the glasses to the bar, so we could have a place to sit. I think they were upset they had to work.
No service what’s so ever., unless you went up to the bar and even then, you had to make your presents known. Not even a “thank you” on a 60% tip for a the beer.
The owners could double there sales if they trained there staff to simply do there jobs. A warm greeting and a hint of service would go a long way.
We won’t be back anytime soon.
