It's the beach, what else is there?

Outdoor showers to hose the sand off, flushing toilets, and a reasonably quick walk to the beach with $5 parking. Well worth the money. We arrived at noonish and the beach and... read more

We went to Croatan Beach after reading about it on Trip Advisor. It is a very clean beach nestled inside a quiet neighborhood. Public parking is only $5 for the whole day, for non-residents of Virginia Beach. Restrooms are right at the parking lot with changing rooms and outside showers. The restrooms were clean, but the changing rooms could use... More

VERY CLEAN BEACH WITH CLEAN WATER. From the beginning of the sand to the water is and estimated 1,000-2,000ft. Very short walk form our home on Croatan Hills Drive. The beach has a slight hill elevation and isn't flat. This doesn't impact the "normal beach experience" at all. WILL VISIT AGAIN

We rented a house for the week about two blocks from the beach. Every day we walked down and could easily find our own area of the beach to take over for a while. No jellyfish, decent surf for bodyboarding, convenient AND uncrowded. Compared to the crowds at the Boardwalk, we were happy we made this choice.

We had no problem finding a parking place on a Saturday in August. The $5 parking fee is cheaper than any place near the boardwalk. There are permanent bathrooms and outdoor showers. The first 200 feet of beach is reserved for surfers and the lifeguards remind them to stay on their side away from the swimmers. Because it is away... More

Outdoor showers to hose the sand off, flushing toilets, and a reasonably quick walk to the beach with $5 parking. Well worth the money. We arrived at noonish and the beach and water was fairly crowded/busy but people started clearing out by 2pm. We felt like we were alone in the world by 4pm even though it was still 86... More

I was skeptical coming to Virginia Beach because of its populatrity and the fear of it being crowded. However, Croatan Beach was not very crowded at all. We had an absolute blast, the waves are great and the beach was beautiful and clean! There were also a lot of dolphins, which was amazing to see! They even swam fairly close... More

Croatan beach is a great place for the whole family. I brought my 10 year old son there and we had a blast! There is a designated area for surfing and swimming

Really great public beach with outside showers and changing stalls. There's a surfing side and a swimming side that you have to be aware of when swimming. There is a short walk to the beach from the parking lot. The only issue is bringing really small children which is always tough when going to the beach. When my family went,... More

It was my first trip to the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately the beach was closed due to storms in the area but it was not posted anywhere. We had to pay $16 to park and walk a couple blocks to find the place closed up. It never did rain or storm that day. Disappointed.

We went to this beach after finding it on this site. On that day, it was really busy, barely a spot to sit down. The sand was so hot it burnt huge blisters on a girls feet but the water was so cold that we couldn't go in. We only stayed about 30 minutes and left. There is also a... More
