Facility good except for poor audio. No room for VAVRS to use as a hospitality site. Poor information on site itself for parking, who is where and way overpriced cafe.

Our first grandchild graduated high school (OK we are getting old) and it was held at the Convention Center. Very impressive building and codo's to the local police and traffic planners that got everyone in and out so quickly.

Close to the beach, easy parking - large and well marked. The amenities are typical to a convention center and the food vendors are friendly.

Convention Center closed? (3 Replies)
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get down this year. I had heard that the Convention Center on the Boardwalk is closed? Is this true? Where have they relocated all the activities that took place there?

You heard right, Convention Hall is closed permenantly. The structure was deemed to be unsafe and not structurally sound. It's kind of ironic, because it was slated for demolition this december anyway. Talks are currently being held on how best to rebuild the aging structure. Ben

I saw this song title painted on a sheet of plywood while driving up St. Charles Avenue on Monday. Under the title was painted "Welcome Home". The sheet of plywood was propped up against a pole under the blue hurricane evacuation sign. I got out of the car, went up and touched it and just stood there crying. The French Quarter looks great. Garden District and Uptown damage is mainly limited to downed trees and power lines. The Convention Center and Superdome areas are among the sadest things...More
