Between the history and the ambience, I was blown away! This location is excellent for a fun filled date night! Take the tour and make sure you book dinner reservations for the Hunt Room to top off the evening!

Fun tour, if short. Only took about 45 minutes in total. The spirits were good, the guides were kind and informative, and the 1920s-esque theme was neat. With the exception of the tasting room, the space was consistently a little tight for the size of the group. Glad we went, though - definitely worth the visit!

Wonderful experience! Friendly atmosphere, very informative girls working in the shop! They knew all the answers to my thousands of questions! 10/10 I want to book another tour next week!!! They were just smashing!

Claire offered a great tour! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and open to questions. The tasting was nice, in a fantastic tasting room ticked away within the distillery. It's remarkable how much they do in a small space in the basement of a historic hotel. Definitely worth a visit.

Google things to do in VA beach and with 5 star reviews who wouldn't try. Tarnished Truth gave hotel history as well as there own history. The tour was very informative and Claire was amazing. I really enjoy bourbon but I personally had a tough time through the tasting. The bourbon was good very strong. Discretion was my favorite and on the rocks might be yours too. I will say the company of the group made the tour 10 times better

Rebecca was a great tour guide, energetic and up beat. She was very knowledgeable (at least that was what a guy on our tour who seemed to know a lot about bourbon said). I thought I was going to hate it because I don’t like hard spirits, but the engaging history of the hotel and the passion for the tasting, engaged even I. The water was really good, e en one of the alcoholics said so (so it must be good, right?). A little pricy, but overall worth the sweaty bike trip (note I don’t recommend it after a sweaty activity because it is in a very fancy hotel…I didn’t know and kept waiting to me asked to leave…again though, Rebecca was incredibly inclusive. 5 starts for Rebecca)

My wife and I visited the Cavalier Hotel and Tarnished Truth Distillery for the first time on Friday 18 October 2024 at 4pm. We had an absolute blast. Our tour guide was Claire and her amazing personality set the tone for the tour. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions with honesty and charisma. If you visit you have to ask when is Claire going to do the tour and sign up for that one I can assure you she will not disappoint you.

We were greeted and checked in very quickly and the staff was very kind and welcoming. The tasting was great as well as Claire our ambassador. It was a great experience. The atmosphere is rich with history. We also spent a little time on the patio before.

We did the advanced bourbon tasting and everything was delicious. Our guide, Claire, had a lot of knowledge about the distilling process and the history of the hotel. We were the only group in our tasting so it felt like we got a personal tour of the distillery. I'd recommend to anyone staying in the Virginia Beach area. Writing this right after the tasting, so don't judge me on the typos!

Very informative bourbon tasting. Claire was an excellent host and fully knowledgeable on the spirits. Bonus was the bits of history thrown in about the hotel itself. Will definitely return on a day when the Hunt Club is open.
