I don't care for sweet wines but had never tried wine that was made from fruit other than grapes. These fruit wines were absolutely delicious. I liked Pungo Ridge's signature wine, made from Blackberries, the best. I enjoyed the Blueberry, Strawberry, and Pear as well. We were given generous pours for the tasting. The owner provided a detailed descriptions of each wine. We purchased several bottles opening one to drink at a picnic table in the middle of the garden. A fun afternoon discovering some new wines. The wine making operation was not open for tours the day we were there which is the only reason I am not rating 5 stars.

Not sure how we found this winery but so glad we did. I am not a fan of sweet wines, but these wines all made from local fruits are awesome. Not too sweet or syrupy at all. Just a hint of blue berries, or blackberries, strawberries. One tasted very similar to a merlot or Cabernet. Very refreshing taste. They even have a blueberry chocolate wine that is awesome. I bought 5 bottles a variety. The owner is very friendly. He gave us a tour and demonstration of the winery and it’s history. Thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and tour. Would highly recommend. It is rated #21 of top 100 things to do in Virginia Beach! I would rate it better than #21. Please go visit Fred and try these local wines made with local fruit.

We visited Pungo Ridge Winery because we had purchased a Groupon. When we arrived, we were a bit confused because we couldn't find the winery. We checked the garage but it was locked. We called and found out the winery was actually in the house. We entered and found another group already participating in a tasting. The offerings are meads...and they were very tasty. The owner is also a photographer...and he create incredible labels for his bottles. A good experience...we enjoyed our time there!

Very unassuming winery located in Pungo, Virginia Beach. Owner was inviting and friendly. Tried the tasting and it was some of the best, no the BEST fruit wine I’ve ever had. You could actually taste which wine was what fruit. Excellent!!!

Go check them out not overly sweet fruit wines and meads friendly small and wonderful atmosphere. I always say the smaller locations are so much better and Pungo Ridge proves it once again. If your looking for a winery to stop at definitely give them a try prices are on point and the owners are fantastic and fun

Very small winery. Mostly sweet fruit wine. All was good if you like sweet. If not, stop by anyway. This place is very unique. Fred is the owner, wine maker, bottler, bar tender, etc. On my list of yearly winery visits from now on.
