People are the best. Food is great. And it one of those places you need to go. Tangier is not a big tourist destination for it is a fishing village. But if you like the laid back way of life the trip back into yesterday...More

I will say right off the bat, there is no internet for phones nor cell signal. Your phone will take great pictures and that is it. Signals are very sporadic to receive any text or emails. The ferry from Reedville, Virginia isn't as reliable as...More

Amazing historic community of hard working Water-men. We arrived by ferry from Chisfield, MD and enjoyed a $5 golf cart tour of the island, lunch at Hilda Crockett's for the most amazing crab cakes, visited a gem of a museum ($3 entry fee) to learn...More

We spent two days getting to and sight seeing all Tangier Island has to offer in Mid May. The residents are warm and friendly and the landscape and wildlife dismal - poverty apparent - dilapidated buildings - trash stored like we were in Jamaica. Lorraine's...More

Everybody should visit this amazing island. We just did a return - quick one day visit so our kids could get a taste of this amazing place. Just walking around making small talk with the locals is such a treat. Their elizabethan twang is something...More

A walk into the past, for sure. This place is slowly and surely sinking due to rising sea levels. It is unlikely it will be here in 50 years. Walk the island or rent a golf cart and absorb the quietness and the fresh salt...More

Visiting Tangier Island is a must. It is unlike anything else. Sadly, the island is slowly sinking into the bay and the residents have tried to no avail to plead with local government to help build a sea wall. In addition to that, their very...More

I had been wanting to go visit Tangier for years. We finally took the trip via personal boat and loved it. It was a little confusing on where to dock the boat, but found out later any of the slips at the marina are fare...More

You must stay at the Bayview b&b as they are the only ones who have kayaks to loan out on the island and they cannot rent them out to non guests (insurance reasons?)

You should go on the Tangier Island website. It contains a lot of useful information, and will answer all of your questions. The golf carts hold anywhere from 2 to 4 to 6 or 8. Take your bug spray!
