Upon entering the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into making the environment intriguing as well as safe and clean. The explanation video for the do’s and don’ts of the escape rooms was thorough and enjoyable, and the staff member did an excellent job ensuring that we knew how to use each kind of specialty lock that the room had to offer.
My wife and I did “The Unexplained Files” room which was the hardest of the options. When we got in the room it felt very unassuming and intimidating at the same time because of all the various combination locks on the drawers and boxes. After about 10 minutes and our first clue, we started finding combinations and the story of the room got deeper and more interesting.
We solved the room with 14 minutes to go and we cannot stop talking about how amazing the room was! We completed the room with 2 people but would definitely recommend this for any group of 2-6 people!

I’m gonna start this by saying, I manage a small local escape room so I understand the time, work, money, and all the unique problems that can and will come up during a room/game build. They take pride in their work and it shows! We were in the area and decided to find a nearby escape room to play and kill some time with our teens. This was our first time at this location and it did not disappoint! Overall the atmosphere, lobby, waiting areas and staff were warm and welcoming. We played “unexplained files” (with a group of 5 and it was also their hardest game). The puzzles and story were so fun and super unique! We had to really think outside the box for most of them. The puzzles had a great range of difficulty, which I definitely appreciated. And I loved how it wasn’t linear and we could all be working on something different. I also just have to mention that our game master was the best! Nick was so sweet and made the experience that much better. We had such a great time and we’ll definitely be going back to play their other games!

We had our Men's College Lacrosse Team break up into small groups and compete with who could get out the fastest in multiple rooms. Beth and the staff were incredible. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about an escape room to try out Crack the Code.

We had a great time here! We were greeted by a super-friendly and funny staff member who made us feel very welcome. The room was really clever. We did not break out, but we usually only break out only about half the time, so we were not too surprised. If I had only two dings, it would be these: our room was set up sequentially, so that you had to solve something before moving on to the next -- this meant we could not easily work on things simultaneously, which is something we really like to do, since we're so horrifically bad at escape rooms. And our gamemaster was not the person who greeted us. While he was not rude or anything, he just seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else. We never got a smile out of him, but he did do a good job typing in the hints and staying on top of our progress while we were in the room. And trust me, we needed a lot of help! Haha! Overall, we would definitely visit again, and we would probably try every room but the most difficult one, because if we couldn't break out of the one we tried, then the difficult one would probably be impossible for us. I think it was a great experience, as the rooms were fun with local themes and the owner seems very invested and I'd love to support her business. We've never noticed this place in Staunton before, so for us it was a great add to our itinerary when we come for visits.

This is the second time I have been to your escape room and neither time disappointed! This time I did it as a work teambuilding experience and everyone on our 2 teams had a great time, many individuals had never been to an escape room before. Even better, we all escaped with time to spare! Thanks for a great time. Highly recommend this place for both work or family time together. Beth is great to work with!

The staff was incredible, super friendly and engaging. Puzzles were challenging without being overly difficult and there were several different themes to choose from. The format encourages teamwork and communication, so it's good for kids and adults alike. It was a great experience and I'll definitely be returning!

Beth, the owner, is AMAZING. I need to start with that.
I have been to several of their rooms at their former location. Always feel taken care of. The rooms are fun and challenging. The props / creativity behind some of the puzzles are phenomenal. And I LOVE the if you need to use a 'hint' that they are custom written for you/your group (not just generic Copy/Paste) hints.
So this was my first time at the new location. Beautiful layout, nice and spacious lobby and welcome area. I was looking for some Socically Distant / COVID Friendly Birthday fun and was able to make a 'private booking' during the week. We did two games back to back and we had a blast. It was really fun in both rooms, and getting to chat with the owner about some of the ins and outs of the place. Excited for the next NEW room to be debuted.
Highly recommended. Price is pretty average for an escape room. Their cleaning procedures and precautions made us feel safe.

I really enjoyed this challenging Escape Room! It was like going through one of those TV shows where you're a detective and trying to piece together a case. We were extremely close to finishing since not too many of these clues were blatantly obvious. A great brain teaser and an absolute blast! We'll definitely be coming back to do this one!

We had two issues. 1, the clock on the wall was incorrect. We did not change it. Had it been correct, we would have escaped with 10 minutes to spare. IN addition, We dribbled water from the jug onto the stone slabs in the same cabinet. Evidently, we found this clue earlier. The employee came into the room, told us to drop everything we had in our hands and asked us how we got a particular cabinet open. It was very accusatory and that was not appreciated. We didn't do anything wrong. I suggest that the water bottle for the cat bowl be put somewhere else. It was very logical to us to dribble that water on the slabs. Otherwise, we had a good time and will do another room at another time.

I'm sorry you had issues with your visit. I'm also sorry that when the game master entered the room when there was a problem that it came across the way that it did. I truly think it was more that he was trying to hurry to fix the problem so that it didn't effect your game flow but sounds like it could have been handled better. Regardless, I'm sorry your experience wasn't the best and I hope that you will give one of our other rooms a try.

My family was on vacation and found these escape rooms. We enjoyed the first one so much we came back for a second! The employee who briefed us and welcomed us was absolutely wonderful and helped make the event exciting! The rooms were put together pretty well. They had good puzzles and were well themed. The only complaint we have is that the harder room had a game master that didn't seem to pay attention much. We started the room and found 2 locks that were just open. The game master noticed and lead us out to fully reset the room. When we asked for a clue, they repeated verbatim the part of the clue we were stuck on that they didn't give us anything in addition to work with. We also encountered two faulty locks. We were entering a code correctly and had trouble opening it. Another we were told we were doing the puzzle correctly but the drawer still wouldn't open. After about 5 minutes of struggling with it with the supposed correct answer, they finally helped us from behind the scenes. We simply ended up losing a lot of time due to malfunctions or things incorrectly set up. Given all of these frustrations, the room was designed well and our first game master was helpful and attentive. We would likely visit again if we are up in that area and just hope we get an employee who cares a bit more.

Let me start by saying I'm glad you enjoyed and had a good experience during your first game and thought it worthy of coming back. As far as your second visit, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't live up to your expectations and that there were some bumps during your game. I'll look into what may have happened to cause the issues.
