Overview
More
Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling visitors since 1922. It is the only Virginia cavern with elevator service, making it one of the easiest caverns to tour. It's also the closest major cavern to I-81 (Exit 269). Our famous bacon formations are so unusual they were featured in National Geographic. Personally guided tours through our 17 soaring rooms take approximately one hour. Also see our other attractions: Main Street of Yesteryear, American Celebration on Parade (open seasonally), and the Yellow Barn. Open all year. Located 2 minutes from I-81, Exit 269, five miles north of New Market, VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Let the exploration begin! Please keep in mind that while Shenandoah Caverns does have an elevator, it is not considered handicap accessible. The pathway is crushed gravel with slight inclines throughout the tour, so assistance is required to navigate the tour via wheelchair. There is also one small portion that is not accessible by wheelchair at all. If you are walking the tour, you must be able to stand for one hour and walk one mile. If you have any questions about accessibility, please give us a call.

Tour was great. Caverns are amazing and beautiful. Our tour guide Kristin was funny and engaging and we learned a lot from her. The only criticism we have is it was hard to hear her at times. If you have bad hearing, it’s probably a...More

We thought it would be a crappy tour considering we had been in self-guided tours in caverns recently but we actually found it pleasant. We had a smaller group, maybe 10 people and the tour guide, Hannah, all while she was young and her jokes...More

Nice people great attraction, lots to see. This place was a better value than the other caverns that are nearby, If I were to choose a single cavern to see in this area, it would be this one.

Visited this cavern for the first time. Basically had a private tour. Tour guide was good and knowledgeable. The caverns don't appear to be as old as some of the other ones, but still has impressive features. I would have liked to have gone out...More

Lots to see in the cavern. Rather safe but not sure how one of our tour mates fell - could be their own doing of not following instructions - do not touch and they did! Travelling with a rowdy group was not pleasant anywhere, including...More

I've been to many caves and caverns around the country, and while Shenandoah Caverns isn't the best one, I did enjoy my visit and would recommend it to you if you are in the area. You'll see very good formations typical of limestone caverns, including...More

Shenandoah Caverns is beautiful. You will be amazed at the rocks and the crystals, over your head, all around you. Stalactite formations abound. A stalactite is a fantastic formation that hangs from the ceiling of caves and hot springs. They look like beautiful dripping candles...More
