Wouldn't necessarily recommend for travelers. Smith Mountain Lake is far superior with public fishing spots and just minutes down the road. Gilly's Park is a fine local fishing spot but it's tucked behind a school and residential area and in site of US 220. If you are from out of town and looking to fish, go to Smith Mountain Lake... Driven by here a couple of times, but had our daughter's 4th bday party here in February. There are two "lakes" - one is stocked w/ fish. Fishing is allowed, but only w/ license. There is a trail that wraps around larger lake, taking you by smaller lake. Sits right off hwy 220, fence and wood area dividing the two,... More
