This weekend we visited Roanoke with friends. We had planned this tour as an event to see and experience Roanoke. It FAR exceeded our expectations! Our tour guide, Ned Salvage was outstanding! A great personality, interpreter and ambassador of Roanoke and all it encompasses! The food was amazing on the tour, and the town itself is great! We couldn't have asked for anything better!

We had a wonderful time on the Food and Cultural Tour. I took my 85 year old Mom who grew up in Roanoke and has lived nearby all of her life. Our tour guide, Ned, gave a really interesting review of Roanoke's history - some of which were vaguely familiar to her and some of which filled in some missing gaps. In both cases, it was fascinating to learn about so many things I'd heard in the stories of my parents and grandparents... the N&W shops, the Viscos factory, the Ritz Hotel, the flood of '85. I could go on and on. The tour would certainly be a nice introduction to people visiting the Roanoke area, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who grew up in the area - to either learn more about your heritage or as a lovely way to reminisce. Oh, and the food.... fabulous!!! We found at least 3 restaurants we intend to visit again!

We recently took this tour while our son and daughter in law were visiting. We have been on numerous food tours across the US and in a couple of other countries. This one was very well done. Our guide (and company owner), Larry, provided a very nice tour that included a number of food stops as well as quite a bit of information about Roanoke. It was nicely balanced and the walking distance was reasonable, even on a warm day. We started at Hotel Roanoke, which might have been our favorite food stop. We walked across the bridge to downtown and tried several very nice restaurants......the shrimp and grits at Billy's were very good. We also stopped at the iconic Texas Tavern (more for the history and tradition rather than the food). The tour ended with a couple of dessert stops. The tour has only been available as a private booking (due to COVID) but it sounds like they will soon be back to normal operations. It's nice to see that a local company is surviving all of the recent challenges. We highly recommend this tour!

Larry was a great guide, friendly and informative. Communication was excellent ahead of the tour. Fantastic variety/mix of foods on the tour with nice sample sizes that left us all satisfied/full by the end. Larry have some good background on the city and it’s history and a good feel for the vibe of the city. An easy, well paced walk.
