The overlook in front of the star is an amazing view! We went during the day, but would love to return to see it at night.

It was worth the trip up the mountain, the view of the city was beautiful. We went late in the afternoon and the it was still really crowded, so be prepared to search for a parking spot. Cars were parked along the road on the way down to the zoo area, which made for interesting walking and driving. We didn’t get to see it at night as the rain came in and the mountain was foggy.

Really made the night feel special. I wish the lights for the paths worked, but we found our way. I didn’t think much of Roanoke as a city until I saw it from this perspective at night. All you can see is lights for miles on end. Great place for photos.

I grew up in the area my entire life. This is just on of a few places I go just to see how much the valley has grown over the years.

We were visiting Roanoke for the first time and it rained almost our entire trip. Luckily we were staying at the Roanoke Hotel and we could see The Star lit at night. Finally on the day we were leaving the fog of the morning lifted and the sun came out so we drove up. There is a parking lot up top, not super big. We didn’t have time to check any trails out we just stopped to see The Star up close and more importantly the view of the city and surrounding landscape. It did not disappoint! Beautiful!
