We recently visited the 868 winery after seeing their Vidal Blanc Passito had won a gold award at the 2020 Virginia Governor’s Cup. Every wine we tasted was excellent. The server was very personable and knowledge about each of the white and red wines. We tried the chocolate truffle pairing. You need to do this. It upscales the wine tasting. We also had a cheese and meet plater that was great. Their restaurant is open on the weekends. Tonight we opened Canvas White and had a flash back to a fantastic tasting. During this we had two surprises. First was the ability to get a bottle of the Vidal Blanc Passito, a desert wine that won the Governor’s Cup. This is still available. Next came a question I had not heard in a while. Are you a veteran? Yes. This gave us a discount. So if you looking for a wine tasting in a quaint, nice setting with great wines and staff, you need to visit the 868 winery. It will be well worth the visit.

We love the wines! Then we went to the on site restaurant, they have it all! We joined the wine club, we went to a special event where they introduced a new wine. A great learning experience and they matched it with food pairings. Can't say enough good things!

Thank you for letting others know what your experience was! We love sharing our passion for hospitality, and good wine and food with our guests and having them get excited about what we have to offer. There's always something going on on site, including another sneak peek for club members in March with our new Petit Verdot. We look forward to seeing you soon!

We visited for the first time for a friendly chili cook-off tasting between Eight Chains (one of our favorites) and 868. Upon our arrival, we bellied up to the bar and announced our intentions. We saw an enormous pretzel on a table that looked good and asked about ordering it for after our tasting; we figured we'd buy a bottle of something and enjoy the pretzel with it. We were informed by our hostess that we should order it now, because it takes awhile. We wanted to wait so that it didn't get cold. We were ignored as the pretzel came out after tasting the first two wines you offered that day. We were not impressed with any of your wines, enough to buy, so we retired to our table , ate our now cold pretzel, and left. Sorry, but we were not impressed.

I'm glad you had the chance to come visit us for our annual chili cook-off with our friends over at 8 Chains North, but I'm sorry that our timing was off from what you requested. We take pride in making sure our customers have a terrific experience with us - I wish we had known while you were still here so that we could have addressed the problem and made sure you were taken care of. We would love to have you return. If you'd like to give us another try, just let me know.

Had a couple of different wines for tasting. They are not many varieties and not enough alcohol for the price.

Our standard tasting includes six wines which at the moment include three whites, one rosé and two reds. We normally switch this to include more reds when the weather gets cool again. I hope you will try us again this fall as our small-batch wine selection does change frequently. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Wines were not that good, nor was the service. The only nice one was busy checking on all the guest, but the guy we had didn't tell us what chocolate went with what wine. Told me I didn't know real wine because I told him I like white wine. He talked rude about the other wine makers in the area. I will never go back, we stopped in on a chance so I guess that was our chance. Beautiful setting though.

My husband and I love going to wineries. Today we tried 868 Estate Vineyard and were disappointed. The wines we tasted were fabulous. If the staff was more friendly and accommodating I would have rated them a 5. First when we arrived we waited for almost 10 minutes before even being greeted. Then when we started our tasting we were rushed. There were two women that started their tasting before us and we were finished with our tastings at the same time. The staff needs to work on their customer service. The wine is great.

We left Breaux, across the street from 868 Winery, truly disappointed. So we nearly didn’t stop here thinking we’d have another unwelcoming experience. But we had a fabulous tasting! Shirley was welcoming, witty and informative. We enjoyed our tastings and talking to Scott Miller (pictured), too. I had the tastings with truffles! Yummy! My sister had the standard tasting but enjoyed some of my truffles, too. I can imagine this winery as a hopping place on warmer days of spring & summer. They also have a restaurant on-site! We’ll be back to 868! Thanks Shirley and Scott! 👍🏼

I am so happy to hear about your experience with us last weekend and Scott and Shirley will be delighted to know you mentioned them in your review. We will look forward to seeing you this summer for our live music in the pavilion - or for any other excuse you come up with to come back! Thanks for helping spread the word for us - Nancy

I'm glad you enjoyed your time in our Manor House from the 1840's that we use for group tastings and wine club events. I hope you come visit us again this summer when you can be outside in our pavilion listening to live music! Thank you for the review!

This was our 3rd visit to 868. Each visit, I have had glasses of the sangria. It was delicious! Yesterday, my Mother's Day, I ordered a pitcher of sangria. I drank nearly all of it and never felt a buzz. It was sparkling juice. My husband pointed it out to one of the workers walking around checking on customers. I was offended to hear that she just thought my tolerance level was higher. Um, sorry, I just had one glass of sangria at Jackson's a few nights before and felt immediately relaxed...there was alcohol in that glass of sangria. My family and I have told many of our friends about this winery - the beautiful views, the outdoor space for kids to run and play, allow outside food, pet friendly, great food and music, etc. but I will tell my friends to stay clear of the sangria. To spend over $30 on a pitcher of sparkling juice is ridiculous. I should have returned the pitcher and demanded my money refunded, but I thought maybe the alcohol was just at the bottom of the pitcher...it wasn't in it at all. We will probably go back to is winery, but I will not order another pitcher of sangria again.

Thank you for taking time to write a review to tell us about your experience at 868. I will pass your comments about the sangria on to our Tasting Room manager for her consideration. I do hope you'll come see us again soon and enjoy our other offerings. All the best, Nancy
