My family and I have visited the Breaux winery for over 20 years. Duding each such visit, we typically purchased a bottle of wine and a lot of appetizers, plus a few bottles of wine to take home for guests.
Today (7/14/2020) was the last time we will visit that place. We were told by the local manager, Tracy, that they now expect each patron who sits in the patio to pay $10 for merely sitting there to view the scenery (plus, of course, the cost of what we purchase).
Here were that manager's arguments for why they now want each person to pay $10 merely to breathe the air there, and my rebuttal for each such sophomoric argument:
1. "The patio is a full service location now". So what? So is every good restaurant, including some 5-star ones. One should merely pay for what is ordered, not for breathing the air. Service is paid always via a tip to the server.
2. "We have other areas you can sit at no charge". So what? This does not change the preposterous notion of charging a client to breathe the air there, over and above the cost of items ordered and/or consumed.
3. "We started this because of the corona virus". So what? We never heard of any restaurant charging patrons to merely sit, (in addition to menu items ordered, of course).
In short, Breaux wineries has instituted a novel way to antagonize and rip off its clients, even old customers who had been paying a lot of money over the years to this winery to buy wine bottles and appetizers.
Readers can form their own opinions as to whether they want to encourage this outrageous conduct by patronizing that winery and its products.

Beautiful setting but the tasting room experience is significantly overpriced for wine which I would describe as not close to many other VA. wineries. The tasting was $20 which purchased 2 seats in the tasting room but no wine that was extra. Red wine by the class as $15 to $18 so by the time were all done it was a $50+ experience. Late Saturday afternoon was very busy with a bus or two in the parking lot.
Try Walsh which is nearby or if you are willing to drive a bit further and spend a little RDV ( reservations required ) , Barboursville. or Glen Manor. They are well worth it the drive and any added cost. Their reds are as good as gets in the state.

So glad you enjoyed our beautiful setting David, as that's certainly a big part of the overall experience and purpose of visiting a winery, in addition to tasting some of our numerous award-winning wines. As we clearly state on our website and is clearly known to our guests when making the reservation, we do charge a nominal reservation fee to help offset the cost of our incredibly high standards of health and safety. Stay safe and healthy.

As always, very happy with Breaux. LOVE the wine (going on 2yrs as club members) and LOVE we can bring our own food. I have read the comments about being charged to make reservations and I have to agree I was put off by the charges too. We were charged $3pp for a table on the grass and were able to put up a canopy. I was a bit upset at 1st but being we enjoy Breaux so much, we sucked it up. People are welcome to bring a blanket and pay no fee to sit on the grass. Went to Breaux Labor Day weekend w friends and we all truly enjoyed ourselves. I have no problem w plastic cups, at least I know they are fresh and weren’t missed in the washing process. Don’t know why people are complaining about food when it says on the website you can bring your own. The reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is bc of the reservation charges. Restaurants can take phone reservations and not charge a fee. Maybe a new reservation system is needed.

I would highly recommend you pass on this self service gas station type of wine facility. We had to pay $40 to just sit at a table. We had to go to the cooler and pick up our own grocery store packages of meat and cheese that you eat off paper plates . We had two bottles of average wine that we had to drink from throw away plastic cups. I would definitely say this a pass by opportunity.

I have been to Breaux vineyards a few times after visiting Harper’s Ferry and love how spacious it is both inside and outside. It is lovely in spring, summer and fall. The views of the landscape are beautiful. It’s a really nice place to have a tasting and you can bring your own food. I recently went there for a Friday afternoon lunch for a celebration of a work anniversary. Due to covid, we made a reservation for the covered patio. The reservation booking fee does not go towards your final bill like many of the other wineries I have visited in the area. In addition, if you switch tables to another area the text to order option is no longer available. The staff were accommodating to our needs and refunded the booking deposit when we decided to sit in the sun. I would recommend this winery to anyone in the area.

My friend recommended this place to us , we tried and really liked it.
The view on the vineyard from the patio is so beautiful, wines are unique and wonderful. Pizza is really good. They have live music which makes the whole winery experience different. They have handmade beautiful chocolates (I highly recommend passion fruit chocolates). Also they were very friendly and the service was great.
We will definitely go back.

On a beautiful early spring Saturday my wife and I met friends at Breaux Vineyards. We sat on the covered patio close to the music and enjoyed the view, the food we brought and excellent Breaux Wine. We had a bottle of their Viognier and one of their popular Maquis De Lafayette red. Both very good. Everything was lovely. They were busy but everything was extremely well organized. While we did not eat the food on the menu we saw people who were enjoying it and it looked very good. The live music was fun and I don’t remember the singer taking more than one quick break in the four hours we were there.
Perfect day.

A great winery with very kind people serving a unique collection of wines. You can enjoy wines inside or out. If you bring a puppy, there is a special and comfortable room where you both may enjoy your time there.
They are very nice.

Staff scolded me for not having the holiday "passport" printed from home. Begrudgingly gave me their "last one". Didn't say much about each wine poured even though it wasn't busy at all. Refused to give us the Rose' -- told us we wouldnt like it. Didn't honor the 10% discount on the bottles we purchased. Had to ask for a printed receipt. Now I am trying to correct the charge and no one has responded. Forcing me to take it up with my bank.
This vineyard's shtick seems to be for guests to purchase a bottle and leave the tasting room asap. Definitely not a pleasant tasting experience. The other wineries on the passport were wonderful!

My boyfriend and I went on Sat. It was chilly and cloudy but the view is still gorgeous. Our reservation was inside (of course). I like the vibe there, chill and just people enjoying themselves without the pretentiousness that we've seen at other wineries. Food was good, I had a grilled cheese and he had a burger. Now to the wine tasting...we definitely didn't care for the reds, but I enjoyed the Rose and "Jambalaya" both of which we bought bottles to go. There was a musician there and he was good and not overpowering with his singing as I have encountered at different places. we moseyed over to their chocolate stand and got 2 bite sized chocolates (so good and it was our cheat day). There was a wedding and I hated that it was chilly for them but I'm sure their pictures will still turn out great. We would definitely go back again when the weather is nicer.
