When I was there May '21) the trail was a wreck caused by utility construction on and nearby the trail. The trail was rough (rocks the size of baseballs) in places and in other places there was deep-ish loose gravel that might cause an unskilled bike rider to fall.

I am confident that the poor conditions are temporary.

About 1 mile paved and 1 1/2 mile of paced gravel. Your connection from Downtown Pulaski VA to the New River Rail Trail which is about 57 more miles of trail to explore!

First mile is paved and OK. The rest has been washed out, again. This is what happens, over and over again, when trails are built in flood plains. Unrideable on a bike. It doesn't look like any repair work is being done. You can ride the paved section on to Cool Springs and then ride the Dora Highway road to VA 99. Take a left then go up (steep) to Dora Junction where the New River Trail.

I rode this trail in 2016 to access the New River Trail. It was a nice ride. Too bad it is not being repaired.

After leaving the train station on the paved trail, we ran into about 4 inches of fresh limestone and we bogged down like we were riding in sand. I found out later that it had flooded and they literally dumped the new limestone on the trail. We turned back and drove to the Dora Junction entrance. Once the trail has settled, it is a beautiful ride, about 5 miles to the New River Trail.

I've walked this a few times. Start at the train depot in town, go thru the park. There are a few benches to rest in. Crosses the road one time but us marked well. Go thru Heritage Park, it's very nice. Follows a creek most of the way. Cross a low water bridge, RR tracks are nearby. It's a pretty walk, mostly flat. If you're staying in Pulaski and need a little exercise this is it.

Heritage Park to The Community Garden is one mile. Two miles round trip is enough exercise for my dogs. I was there on a Saturday and I only passed one person on a bike who had been fishing. I've been on The Huckleberry Trail in Christiansburg, VA starting at the mall, which was extremely busy. I love walking by the water on the Dora Trail.
