We start along the Elizabeth River where it's deep waters attracted a British Naval Shipyard in 1767. In constant operation since 1767 today it's known as the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Walk the cobblestone streets of our Freemason District visiting the Seldon House and the Cary-Weston House.

Next, we stroll the Ghent District where a Victorian building boom populated the shores around 1900. We visit the home of Norfolk visionary Peter Write circa 1899.

Then we venture into the Chrysler Museum of Art to see the Norfolk Mace.

Finally, we return to Norfolk's Downtown District to St. Paul's Episcopal Church which displays on of Cornwallace's cannonballs from 1776 still lodged in its wall.

It is wonderful to spend a few hours with children, there are a variety of activities and the children have a great time, organized and planned for a sequence of activities that both teaches and explains in all subjects suitable for young age. Highly recommended!

Great day out for little kids and big kids alike. Well worth the $5 entry. Coleman's Nursery display was small and spread out this year but still nice to see. Definitely recommend for family days.

This was a nice kid’s museum. My son is 6 and he loved it. They even have a craft area where you can make-and-take. The museum isn’t very large which is great because it was just the right size that didn’t take hours to get through.

We really enjoyed the day. My daughter had a great time there. It has a great mix of "watching" and "doing" to promote learning. Highly recommend.
