You do not get a good impression of this used book store as soon as you walk in. A few of the aisles were dark and cluttered with books stacked in the walkways. The sections were labeled so you could find the genre you were looking for but there were a lot of misfiled books. My husband did find one golf book but it was misfiled and it was just luck that he found it. However, the lady working inside was very nice and friendly. She just needs to do some cleaning up.

Stopped in here once before I moved to town and loved it. I wasn't looking for anything specific, so I didn't have much cause to ask for help. Regardless, it was evident that Jeannie herself is extremely friendly and helpful as we chatted about where I was from and what brought me to town. I was looking for a job at the time, and she gave a few suggestions of places to look into in my field. Not the usual kind of helpful service I'd expect at a bookstore, but I think it's a good indicator of how things are there. Shortly after I moved here, I casually mentioned once going to a bookstore with an oddly friendly woman working there, and my roommate immediately responded "Oh, you went to Jeannie's?" Clearly, she has a reputation for this. Even if the bookstore was lackluster (and it is definitely not), the friendliness here would worth supporting just as a shining example of a lovely local business. Go get yourself some books.

This place is wall to wall and floor to ceiling books. The owner knows exactly what direction to point you in if you know what you are looking for. Huge selection of cookbooks. So many subjects!

There are shelves and shelves of books to choose from. Bring your list of books you are looking for. Jeannie will help you locate it. Paperbacks galore, history, art, kids, collectables - you name it she has it. She also buys gently used books. Prices vary as to type of book. It's tight in there so I am not sure if a W/C can get through but you can get in the door and Jeannie can help you. I just love to stop in her when I go to visit the family in Portsmouth.
