Lovely place, but we misjudged the difficulty of the "easier" trail.

We set off without reading other reviews (always a mistake), and took the lower trail up. It is fairly difficult for the occasional hiker. I would follow the advice of other... read more

Not a regular hiker, walker...yes, hiker...no. A sign at the trailhead explains that the lower falls trail is the easier option. But at the 1/2 way point, we were tired of climbing rocks and walking uneven steps. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous but the trail was too much for us. The sign at the 1/2 way point then shifts and... More

We set off without reading other reviews (always a mistake), and took the lower trail up. It is fairly difficult for the occasional hiker. I would follow the advice of other reviewers and take the upper trail next time.

Great hike. We live in NC and we've had harder and easier 4 mi (round trip) hikes. This one was in the middle as far as difficulty. Take the upper trail. It's shorter and less strenuous. Both follow the creek for the first 1/3. The upper starts a slow climb upwards and the lower stays along the creek. The upper... More

This was a really fun hike. The scenery is remarkable and I live near the Great Smokey Mtns national park. Stone steps, bridges, creek, falls are beautiful. Plenty of room to play and explore.

I'm not a novice hiker but I do think that a lot of the reviews here don't fully articulate the trails for people who don't hike regularly. The biggest thing most people miss is that there is a huge elevation change (750 ft) between where the parking lot is located and the waterfall. The upper trail is a wide trail... More

Short 4 mile loop comprised of the upper and lower trail. The lower trail is much more scenic but contains many stairs so we went up the upper and came back on the lower. We caught it after some rain so the falls were flowing heavily. If you're here on a hot summer day be sure to bring your bathing... More

A small and good hike, good outing place for family, you can easily hike with kids and pets, a pretty and serene fall towards the end of the hike

Whole family went son is only 4 he walked the entire 2 miles on the lower trail which is so beautiful and scenic taking our time and walked the high trail back which is much easier for the way back! Daughter is older and did great as well! The falls were gorgeous ! We took a picnic lunch and waded... More

For an amateur hiker like myself, this hike was a breeze. The view of the creek was amazing when we took the lower trail. Would love to visit again.
