Having already experienced dreadful service on my first visit, met a friend at the attractive new cafe again this week. It was reasonably busy on a wet day but there seemed to be a dedicated barista and 3 customer service staff which should be more than adequate for a small cafe. However things had not improved. The patisserie selection is... More

Thought we'd try out the new Makana Cafe. Big mistake. It's a lovely new building, with a great outdoor area. The chocolate and gelato are expensive but very nice. The service and systems are a complete dogs dinner however. Had to queue up for 10 minutes for our gelato, which was odd, as it wasn't even that busy, but hey,... More

Popped in during our day out at Kerikeri from Pahia and found this gem on the road into town. The toffee hazelnut crunch is to die for!

We went the Friday before Mother's day and although it was busy, the staff were helpful and pleasant. The food, however, was spectacular, with the deserts on offer something else!! Coffee was hot and good. The owner said that they will introduce more goodies over the winter like crepes and flambé! He suggested I check out the women's toilet (seemed... More

Visited the new cafe today for the first time and we were very disappointed. We chose our items from the cabinet and placed our order. The food prices are expensive but it was a special treat. As it was Mothers' Day and quite busy, we expected to wait a while. However, after 3/4 hour nothing had appeared. Other customers who... More

This place looked great on the TV ad, and was well presented, but we were ignored by staff - one of whom whizzed past us with a tray of testers to people directly beside us, without any acknowledgement whatsoever.

The shop offers a variety of unique chocolate products. When you enter the shop you are served the chocolate of the day and that is the only sample you receive as a free tasting. There is a big glass wall separating the cooking area from the public area where you can watch the chocolates being made. The chocolates are pre-packaged... More

Was introduced to this place as the last stop on a Marlborough Valley wine tasting tour. You can watch them make chocolates or stroll around the modest sized shop trying to decide how you will make an investment in one of the numerous types of chocolate treats. I settled on a package of dark chocolate mint sheets (175g at 18.50NZD)... More

Beautifully presented shop and devine chocolates, however the staff were very rude. I do appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that goes into making them, but did feel that $18 for a teeny tiny box was pricey. I asked the staff why they didn't have a display of a selection of individual chocolates to pick and choose from and was told... More
