Took my wife here for her the first time as she thought the east coast beaches were good, she was impressed! Cottesloe beach is one of the best beaches in my opinion and needs to be experienced for ones self.

Drove down Marine Parade to the far end to take sunset pictures. We were joined by a container ship just for sunset on the horizon. Some lovely rock formations as well along the shore.

Cottesole is easily accessible by car or train, and is a great place to enjoy a picnic and soak up some sunshine in summer (or a sunny winter day).

The minute you see the tall pines, you know you are about to be at the best beach in Perth. Cottesloe has a lovely feel about it which hasn't changed in decades. No high rise & beautiful older style homes with large gardens make this...More

On this coast one is spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. This is a very popular one and understandably so. A more old world feel to the area which endows a certain charm.

There are no organised activities, just personal beach walking, night photography of the exhibitions if you are into it or eating dinner at a restaurant nearby

Sadly not for hire. If you go to the main Cottesloe beach there is plenty of shade on the terraces of lawn south of Indiana building.

Thank you so much for your help JeanPerth I will change my itinerary to Fremantle on Sunday and cancel my plan to Dongara I've asked one visitor center and they said they couldn't refer one.. I think we won't use any car with driver and will try to learn how to use public transport like Australians :) I've just known about Perth Hills Spring Festival today... as we don't have much time in WA, we might cancel our plan to Swan Valley and visit Perth Hills instead. What do you think...More

Perth Advice (10 Replies)
Greetings all. I am considering an 8 or 9 day trip to Perth on February 10. We will be travelling with an 11 month old infant. Ideally we are looking to be in a nice quiet and clean environment, close to the city but not necessarily downtown. Anything withing a 1 hr drive or so of the core would be great. A beach would be ideal as the weather charts look hot at that time of year. Anything I need to know about this timing? Would it be a little to hot for comfortable travel. We are...More

7-9 days is enough if you're not planning to travel to the south. There are no coastal farms near the city. Cottesloe beach is pleasant; none of Perth's beaches are really "downtown". I think, though, you might find the heat oppressive. Temps in the 40Cs are not unusual for February. You will need to wear high SPF sunscreen, especially baby, frequently refresh it if you are outdoors, and it would also be wise to wear hats and have UV-resistant clothing for baby if you're going to be out...More

Autumn in Perth (6 Replies)
Hi, I'll be travelling to Perth in end of April. May I know where can I catch the best autumn scenery in Perth? Raeburn Orchard seems to be a great place, is there any other recommendations? Which beach shows the best sunset? I think Cottesloe beach will be quite packed as it is school holiday in Australia.

The entire western coastline gets a spectacular sunset. You don't need to pick any specific beach.
