This National Park has many highlights. In addition to visiting the Pinnacles Desert, we returned the following day to view and admire the dunes along the coast, the pristine beaches, Lake Thetis and the stromatolites, take a stroll on the boardwalk adjacent the lake and admire the varieties of flora in bloom. So much to see here, allow at least a half-day.

We hadnt been to the Pinnacles for 17 years when there was a tin shed with a gate to enter.I love the updates and think it has been tastefully done.$15 entrance fee for a vehicle carrying up to 12 people.Toilets, visitor centre and gift shop which blend into the bush setting. We decided to walk the trail which is 1.2km long and then we drove around.Im glad we did both.Walking allowed us to interact with the wildlife seeing kangaroos, lizards and birds. The drive took you to some really great places to take photos. At least in this way if you have a caravan behind your car you can do the walk around.A lot bigger than I ever remember it.Make sure you go when travelling up this way.We spent just under 2 hours here.Opens at 9am and closes 9pm but you can enter the park and use the honesty envelopes or credit card to enter.NO CAMPING OVERNIGHT

Be aware it is $15 to enter the national park. We came on a not very busy day and it was very awesome to wander amongst these limestone pillars and take photos. We also drove 15 mins up the road to Lake Thetis and did the walk around there too.

We visited Namburg National Park on a day trip from Perth, quite a long way (2 hours each way) but made easier by stops at Yanchep NP to see some kaolas on the way up, and lunch in Cervantes. It was certainly worth the trek and I am glad that we made the trip.
When you turn off the Indian Ocean Highway towards Namburg NP you follow the road until you reach the Visitors Centre. This is a great place to start your visit and learn about these strange rock formations, the origins of which are unclear. You don't need long for the Visitors Centre but it will set the scene for what's to come.
You can then either follow a path behind the Visitors Centre to the area where the Pinnacles are situated, or return to your car and drive round to the site. As the area is quite large, we started on foot but then went back to collect the car which worked better. You simply follow the road/dirt track around the 3km site, stopping wherever you fancy in order to get out and take photos or get a closer look. There are two loops and so try not to miss the second on off to the left as you move around the main track.
They really are intriguing, all different shapes and sizes. Some in clusters and some just randomly placed. I'm really not sure where they came from but I have never seen anything like them. Weird and wonderful!

It is always worth visiting the Pinnacles because the changing lighting conditions and clouds give different perspectives. The drive was closed when we visited due to some forecast storms but it's better to walk around anyway. Good job on visitors centre too.

Nambung National Park is situated a couple hours north of Perth and around half an hour short of Jurien Bay. It is a nice area to enjoy desert, bush and spring flowers with very unique dune landscapes and waterways like the famous Pinnacles Desert and Lake Thetis.
We recently visited the Pinnacles Desert within Nambung NP in route to Kalbarri from Perth and much enjoyed learning about the pinnacle structures at the Discovery Centre as well as seeing them up close while walking along the track through the dessert. These are really interesting land formations that make for incredible photos during early morning when light conditions are right and when the sky is clear.
Really enjoyed our brief visit to Nambung NP and wish we had allocated more time to explore further. It is a unique landscape and area that felt well worth making time to enjoy if travelling through WA, even if only for a brief stop to see the Pinnacles.

Unseasonal showery conditions made for a moody day walking among the pinnacles. Note: walking among the pinnacles. Why oh why have they put a vehicle trail through this natural feature? It’s unnecessary. Otherwise we enjoyed the visitor centre and the eerie beauty of the eroded rock forms.

Well worth a visit on the drive either to or from Perth. A good walk but also a good drive. The whole area is alive with scenery, not forgetting the massive white sand dunes.

It is a long trip from Perth, that said it was well worth the drive. It was great to see the formations and have some fun trying to come up with what the formation looks like - an owl was one of the favourites. Great scenery and as others have said it was awesome to walk among the ancient formations

My friend and i joined the day tour to Pinnacles with Western Xposure for AUD 155.
The driver and the tour guide is the same person.
When we reached the Cervantes, the fishing village was closed and the driver does not seem to be aware of this in advance. So, we end up standing in a room to watch a 3min video clip , which can be easily downloaded from any website.
When we reach the Pinnacles, the driver started his briefing without waiting for the rest of the group to gather. I had to keep running to catch up with him. When i ask him about how the Pinnacles was formed, he told me to check from the information gallery. However, he was very friendly with the other Caucasians and was eager to answer their enquiries.
First, as a tour guide, he is very unprofessional. There are 27 of us, he should at least gather the whole group before he start explaining. When i made enquiries, I was told to read from the information gallery.
Second, he is racist.
Third, there is lack of coordination and planning. If Cervantes is closed, it should be replaced with another similar tour, instead of wasting our time to watch an irrelevant 3 min video clip.
Fourth, there should be seperate person for driver and tour guide. From humanity point of view, the driver has been driving for 3 hrs under the hot sun, I dont expect him to have the energy to continue with tour briefing when reached the destination.

Is there an entrance fee into the park and if so how much? Will be in Perth in January.

Yes it was $12 for us. I thought it a bit expensive seeing nature did it and not a city council. However when we got to the center I saw that they are spending the money really well. There is an info center that tell you lots of interesting things I never knew before. Was money well spent.
