The Caulfield Cup will be held at the Caulfield Racecoure on Saturday 17 October 2020. It's Australia's second most pretigious race, and it's the preliminary race to the Melboune Cup. Priszmoney is $A5 million, well worth winning for both local and visiting horses. The race is aver 2,400 metres. There's always a lot of interest tio see if the winner can take out the "Cups' Double," the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. The Caulfield Cup is a handicap race, though it's moving to weight-for-age. The course will be sparkling, and racegoers will dress in their best. It's customary for ladies to wear a hat or fascinator

The Caulfield Cup is one of the world's top thoroughbred races; it's worth $5 million. It's held at the Caulfield Racecourse, otherwise known as The Heath. The race is for horses 3 years and older over 2400 metes (2620 yards). It is a handicap event, though it is in the process of transfering to WFA. It will be held this year 17 Oct 2020. The Caulfield Cup is a lead in race to the Melbbourne Cup, there's always speculation if the winner will "get the double."

It took us 2 circuits of the racecourse to find the entrance which is an electric gate that leads to a tunnel under the track to the centre of the course. There are free bbq's (not cleaned) and a catch and release fishery in one of the lakes. The lake certainly has a green algae tinge to it. Plenty of people take their dogs for walks around the area if the amount of dog poo is anything to go by. It was interesting to see so we know where to go next time the lake is stocked.

Because this racecourse is Crown land (that is, the property of the Queen of Australia who is also Queen of England), the public can walk through it at any time - even when a race meeting is on.
A walk through it allows one to see the innards of a racecourse - including what used to be called 'the Flat' in the middle of the course.
It is an oasis without housing, now surrounded by upmarket homes in an inner Melbourne suburb.
Catch a train from Flinders Street station as Caulfield is a junction station on the Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham lines.

We went to Caulfield Guineas Day on October 12 and had an absolute awesome day. So much to see and do apart from the horse racing. We rang the Melbourne Racing Club earlier in the week and they told us about everything which was happening on the day. The dining rooms were all booked so next time we will book earlier but we found some great bars with ample food outlets. We were suprised how inexpensive membership was so we became members and will return for other meetings and the Caulfield Cup. Everyone was having great fun which was infectiuos. TIPS - ring well in advance for dining packages, dress up to impress, ask the ask the "blue coat customer service people" around the course where the best spots are, easy train ride to front gate from the city.

This is a great hidden jem in the middle of the racecourse. You don't need to go to the races but the centre of the racecourse is open to the public with BBQ facilities, lake and open space for kids to run around and have fun.
