We took a bus tour with Gray Line to visit the Blue Mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park. The bus gets you to the park at around 8am, and the park opens just for the tour group, so you beat the crowds and the animals are wide awake and active and not overfed yet. I highly recommend to use this tour company for your visit to this park.
We did pet the koalas and fed wallabies. It was amazing. You can also get a photo from the park of you and a koala. I can’t remember how much it was, but nothing outrageous. Around $15-20 US I think.
The gift shop prices seemed a bit higher compared to shops back In Sydney. Also, if you are heading to the Scenic World after the park, the gift shop there has better prices and more choices, in my opinion.
The park will hand out some coupons upon your entry that you can use for the gift shop, so don’t forget.
You can get a cup of food to feed animals. We had 3 and still had food left in them after we finished touring the park . We spent about one hour and 15 minutes at the park and had plenty of time to take photos with a koala and feed wallabies. But, bear in mind, it was 8 am and there were no other people at the park except for our tour group of 12 people. If you come later in the day, I’d say expect more crowds and probably less active animals.
The park in my opinion is certainly worth visiting for koala encounter. Our friends booked “Breakfast with a koala” at Sydney Zoo and we’re completely disappointed with it. Can’t touch a koala there and the set up for the photo shoot was very cheap and poorly made, from what our friends told us. So Featherdale is definitely worth visiting. It takes about an hour by bus from downtown Sydney (tour bus), I can’t comment comment on the public transportation options, sorry.

Thank you for such a lengthy review! We're glad to hear that visiting Featherdale was the highlight of your trip! Our Kangaroos here would have greatly enjoyed the attention and food that you so happily provided them. We hope you pass this positive experience on to friends and family! and we look forward to seeing you again soon (:

We travelled here by Coach from Sydney and had a couple of hours to look around this small wildlife park. Most of the animals are separated in their own pens and there are plenty of them to see. The koalas were lovely and there is an opportunity to purchase a very brief experience with them and have a picture taken. Visitors are given a card at the entrance with places for their children to obtain an ink stamp of an animal to signify when you have visited a particular animal’s area. There are eight in all to collect as you go round and if you miss any, you can stamp your card at the exit. Despite being in our late 50’s we joined in this hunt for the stamps and later found that many of our coach party had done the same despite like us, not having any children with them! This was a worthwhile visit lasting about 90 minutes which is plenty of time to see everything - and collect your stamps! There is a nice little cafe where a chatty young man served us cold drinks. Watch out for the Ibis bird with the long beak - they are everywhere in the park and like to pinch the fish being fed to the penguins. One customer we saw in the cafe leaned over to get something from his bag and returned a few seconds later to find a greedy Ibis had relieved him a of half of his carton of chips.

We took the train (T1) to Blacktown Station (direction Emu or Richmond) for 45 minutes and then a short 10-minute bus ride to the zoo. The bus stops right in front, hard to miss. Most of the animals here are rescues that cannot be sent back to the wild. We were able to pet a kangaroo, see koala bears but not touch (we weren't koalafied). A fun day meeting the wildlife. Some of the staff didn't care to be there, otherwise a home run.

Went on Easter Monday, that was a mistake. Lined up in the sun for 45 minutes to get in. No social distancing at all.

Waited another 45 minutes in the cafe line of 30-40 people to be served by one server with two helpers just standing behind them. Would have been better to open up another register maybe. Food - horrible.

If we would return it would be with a packed lunch and not during school holidays or a weekend.

Park in need of an update, anything interesting to encounter costs extra so there’s no value in your overpriced entry ticket.

Booked tickets online to visit the place with my 2 year old on her birthday and staff outside was very rude asking me to stand in a que while some of them asked to come to counter straight away since we bought ticket online .Also they seemed to be quite annoyed arrogant in responding any queries. I would not prefer to visit this wildlife park again. One time visit is ok if you haven't seen any aus native animals. Booking online is better option as dint feel it was value for money.

Should have read the reviews first before visiting this place (part of our Blue Mountain day tour), and I would have noticed how the negative reviews were hardly responded or addressed.

There was quite a variety of native animals here even though the place was not huge / big compared to the Sydney Zoo. We walked around and do enjoyed watching and feeding some of the animals.

However , what peeved us most is the staff’s attitude and rudeness . One of the staff at the koala’s enclosure stood there with this rude and bored look . Tried asking her a couple of questions but got no response . Yes we are Asians and speak perfectly good English (probably much better than her since she didn’t speak at all besides giving us THAT LOOK ).

Would we recommend this place ? Absolutely not, especially if you are not Caucasian.

Thank you for your review, your comments help us to continually improve our guest experience. All negative comments are referred to our management team for review and we take the matters up privately with our guests. We are proud of our collection of 2000 making us home to the worlds largest collection of Australian wildlife, we are the only place in Sydney that allows Koala patting in addition to a variety of up close experiences. It would not have been our intention to come across abrupt in our customer service as we pride ourselves on sharing the Australian culture will all our guests near or far. We have raised your concerns with management for review.

Decided to use our Discover Voucher at Featherdale which is a local Sanctuary to us which we hadn’t been too.
We enjoyed looking at the different birds 🦅 🦢 and other Australian Wildlife 🐨 🦆🦉🦇 We were going to buy food there but we found it expensive.
Gift/Souvenir shop had a good range of items.

What an amazing experience, I was along to capture this experience for work then chose to go back as a visitor with my wife. Such great information from the keepers and a close up experience with the koalas in residence at the park.

The best experience money can buy in Sydney, well worth the 30 minutes with these beautiful animals. Thank you Featherdale.

This is the first stop of our tour that includes the Blue Mountains. It was fascinating to see the different wildlife up close and personal. Enjoyed the variety of animals and birds. It is very different from Taronga Zoo with this one offering a more personal experience in its more intimate setting.

Hello fellow travelers, All I have to say that the staff at “Featherdale Wildlife Park” know how to make a guest feel welcome. I’ll also have to say that the park was laid out well and easy to traverse, with signs and markers located all over the park. The animals are all easy to find and plenty of room to view them in their living spaces. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly with any and all questions that I just so happened to have. I really recommend doing some of the excursions while you visit I personally enjoyed the “Quokka” encounter while I was there. It gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s beautiful, and interesting wildlife. In closing I’d like to thank the staff for making my visit something really enjoyable and a experience I’ll most certainly never forget.
