The new Wailele Polynesian Luau at the Westin Resort in Maui, Hawaii was excellent. We've been to a very cheesy luau on Oahu, and didn't want that experience, so we avoided the others on Maui. The Old Lahaina Luau is well reviewed, but doesn't have fire dancers, so we chose the Westin and were not disappointed. It's a smaller, intimate venue overlooking the sea and sunset, right on the Westin grounds. Some luaus have up to 700 attendees, this one was in the 130 range- much nicer. If you don't pay for premium seating, it's "festival seating", so many wait in line to get the best tables, but the staff serves Mai Tais and kid's drinks while you're in line. (You don't have to wait in line unless you want to, but any seat would be fine) All cocktails are included, the photos are not, but they're very good. The advantage of the Westin luau is in the table seating and service. No lines at a bad buffet, real table service with family style platters on a lazy susan on your table with comfortable chairs on a stone pavilion- no sitting in sand. Tables are for 8 or 9. And the food was excellent. Every item from appetizers to desserts was terrific. The show was really good, the music was top notch, the performers were outstanding and the emcee was funny, engaging, not a sleaze bag, and actually was a great singer. There were 5 fire knife dancers plus the third generation fire performer who led them all in the finale. Awesome. Everything about this evening was just right. Even celebrity patrons! Only zinger was the $20-$25 for the photos- a bit steep. I would recommend this luau- you can't go wrong. It is around $105 for adults and $75 or so for kids, but everyone enjoyed it from our 6 and 11 year old kids to our 70 year old parents! Nice!-+
