It was our first time visiting Culebra and definitely will go back. We really recommend Carlos Jeep Rental across the spectrum of customer service, kindness, to the cleanliness of the jeep. We originally didn't plan to rent arriving to the island as we were based in town most of the time for snorkeling tours and a diving trip. After we arrived at the airport we decided on a whim we wanted a cart to go to Zoni Beach. We walked a couple minutes from the airport to Carlos Jeep Rental. It was very convenient.

Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted by Andres Cortes. He's energetic, positive, and helpful! If you love art, Andres is a muralist and you can see his art around town, especially if you go to Blac Flamingo Coffee. You can see they have washing and vacuuming setup for through cleaning of the cars. They were out of golf carts, but had plenty of jeeps to rent right on the spot on a Friday. Our candy apple jeep was spotless, fresh, and drove smoothly on the roads. We avoided many of the dirt roads with rough terrains, but know if you accidentally took a wrong turn on the other side of the island you'd be fine. A/C was top-notch for the 85-90F days. All in all, we were glad we went with the jeep because it was able to go over hills and is faster than a golf cart. A golf cart is generally better for parking and perfect for the smaller roads throughout Culebra.

We left the island, my partner lost his iphone. We looked furiously the day before we flew and accepted it as lost to the island of Culebra. His phone was on airplane mode and out of service area for "Find My Phone" which made it limiting. Then days later when checking Find My Phone, it updated and showed a new location at Carlos Jeep Rental, meaning it was left in the jeep we rented. We called and it was confirmed his phone was there. They made a package then gave it to a pilot at the airport for us to receive in San Juan. Talk about luck for us and Carlos Jeep Rental going above and beyond on all fronts!

A perfect end for our weekend. We will rent from Carlos Jeep Rental again!

The location is right in front of the airport, they didn't take reservations so I suggest just walking in. I was worried due to all of the negative reviews but the checkin process went pretty fast, there were 3 people at the counter (perhaps due to labor day weekend as well) and even though there were maybe 15 groups I waited about 20~30 mins. People working there were super friendly and polite as well. I cannot speak about the pickup service, but the walk-in experience had no issues. The price was as listed without any random extra fees as well.

I don't understand these people complaining about how expensive it is - there aren't many options so obviously due to supply and demand the price will be high. For 4 days the cost came to about $350 for a golf cart. Its not that expensive - would you rather walk??

I must say that my experience was outstanding. In this new era of COVID-19 precautions, Yaritza Alvelo was very creative on how to rent a Jeep and observe social distancing. Every communication with her and transaction was virtual and via text. Payment was done via the phone. I was able to receive pre rental inspection picture along with the odometer reading and fuel gauge. When I arrived to the island, I called her and she guided me to the airport counter where I picked up my contract and keys. She looked at me through the security camera and confirmed my identity. I inspected the vehicle and enjoyed my time. Upon returning the vehicle, I took pictures of the exterior of the vehicle, odometer and fuel gauge and sent it to her. I also sent a video of me dropping the keys to the drop box at the airport. Clearly, this company developed a creative method of observing social distancing and keeping up a business. She also provided advice on where to go to purchase groceries as well as gasoline.

Beware of a number of issues with Carlos Jeep Rentals. First, when you book online and pay by credit card, one would expect that this would be the cost. No, not with Carlos as there are hidden insurance fees when you pick up the auto. Second, know that the auto pick up area is a couple of miles from the ferry terminal. If you are visiting Culebra for the day, expect a one hour process to obtain the auto. They will shuttle you over from the ferry to the car depot, but only driver of vehicle can go, all others wait behind. Cars are due back by 5 pm, but their last shuttle back to ferry is at 4. After 4, you must are responsible for securing a taxi.

If I ever come back to Culebra, I would not rent from Carlos.

Careful, the staff will lie to you. Made us pay for an extra day calming they would be closed on a Sunday (to return on a Monday). When I came on Sunday to drop off the keys I saw they were open. I went inside to ask why I had to pay for an extra day, and they just pointed to their no refund policy.

I couldt recommend this place any less. First of all, they never answer the phone, you have to go in person. Then, when you are there, they are kind of rude. Their equipment is old and sub-par, there are other places in the Island, Jeffrey and ITV that have really nice golf carts, much newer.

They also seem to make a lot of money on charging people for gas, even if you return the cart full. In my case, I spent 10 minutes arguing with the attendant over the fact that I had just filled the tank 10 minutes before returning the cart, showed her the receipt but since the carts' gas tank meters dont work, on purpose i bet, they kept telling me tank was not full, which was totally a judgement call since there is no clear way to tell. these people are not honest.

Bad Costumer Service. They charged extra fees over $130.00 over sand when they told us they would only charge $20.00. The staff did not cooperate or gave us any alternative. They are a total SCAM and I will be reporting to DACO the irregularities.

I made a reservation on March 18th for two golf carts on June 12th, as I would be flying from the mainland with family members. The night of June 6th I received an email canceling my reservations because supposedly they are closed on Saturdays despite their website saying it is open 7 days per week and taking my original reservation. They waited two and a half months to inform me and now all other companies are fully booked. I guess not all local, family owned businesses, provide the nest customer service.

We rented a van from Carlos keep for $150 a day. It was pretty beat up, covered in sand and had vacuum parts left in the back seat. When we returned the vehicle they said it “smelled of smoke” and that they would be keeping our $250 hold as a smoking fee. That’s they just went through a pandemic and times were hard! I then saw a $399.47 charge on my credit card from them. I called the owners multiple times receiving no response and the main office multiple times being put on hold and never returned to. Ten days later and I still don’t know what the extra charges are. This is a company I have supported for over 15 years and whom my friends and family are always recommended to rent from. I’ve sent them thousands of dollars in business over the years. I can’t believe the customer service and treatment of loyal customers and “friends”. I will be recommending Jerry’s Jeep rental in the future.

STOP! AVOID!!
We had a terrible experience, from the beginning to the end. We had to wait two hours to get the car, even though we explained them we were with an infant and 4 elderly people. Then, we got a dirty car which was in very bad conditions. Finally, when we went there to return the car we had a terrible service, the staff was rude. We returned it 1 hour late as one of their employees had authorized us. They refused to acknowledge it, and charged more money. They said that person was not authorized to extend the return time. It is a unethical business full of unethical people.
If you wanna have a great experience in Culebra, AVOID this place!!
