You have to drive through a golf course to reach it, but the ruins, the view, and the likelihood that there won't be anyone else there makes it worth the diversion!

As a law enforcement officer I patrol this area frequently. This area has always people walking around taking pictures and doing exercise.
*This whole area is great for hiking. Look for the Hoyo 8 bike trail.
* People are DIRTY! I personally know the guy who tries to keep this area clean and is very frustrating to see how people leave their trash behind.
* Keep walking South and you will find wilderness beach, great for surfing.
*The actual ruins is frequently used for weddings or quinceañeras pictures.
* There are some abandoned buildings just before the ruins, you will see a Puerto Rican flag painted in the wall. Be careful here, especially if you see cars parked there but don't see anyone. Local authorities have done raids in those abandoned building because this is a very famous place where the gay community come to look for sexual activity. Many, many times people go inside the buildings out of curiosity or to take a picture and the have found two men having sex. I am not exaggerating, just check all the cars parked there and you will never see a woman alone, they are all men. Anyway, nothing against sexual preference. I just have to mention this because many people go there with their kids and the least you want them to see is two guys getting crazy with each other.
* The beach where the ruins are located is called Borinquen Beach and this summer has seen a boom of visitors during the weekends.
* The pictures I posted are from 7/8/2019 (inside the ruins), while taking some memories of our new puppy.

I went to see Borinquen Beach and the lighthouse ruins. The beach is beautiful. As far as the lighthouse and ruins, there were several creepy guys sitting by themselves and walking around. When I went back to the hotel, I was told this is a place guys will meet and sometimes “the bad guys” go there. So I’d go during the day. I wouldn’t go alone. And if something doesn’t look right, get out.

It's an ok place to visit and take a few pictures. Being a law enforcement officer I patrol that area regularly. One of the remaining walls was destryed by the hurricane and the bricks are just there in the middle of the road.

Photos of these lighthouse ruins have been used in numerous commercials so it is nice to see them. The area is beautiful and great for photos. The ruins can be difficult to find if you don't have directions - there are no signs. As you are heading north on 107 towards Aguadilla airport, you will pass a golf course. There is only one road into the golf course - turn left on to it. If you reach the road on the right side leading into the airport, you've gone too far.
Drive though the golf course (keeping an eye out for golf balls) and stay on the dirt road as it veers left. You will see the ruins a little ways down the road. The road can be bumpy and is not rental car friendly. So you may want to use some caution if in a rental car.
It is worth a stop at the beach you will pass along the way. It's a beautiful beach.

We sort of stumbled upon these ruins, they are hidden but we were doing a beach hike and saw some people and went over to see....they are very interesting and pretty, but smaller than it seems from photos online... just a quick 5 min there will do to see all there is to see.

On the way to Widerness Beach. Great photo stop. Beautiful beach with overlook. Nice trail walk to Borinquen Beach. Or park at beach and walk to lighthouse ruins.

This location makes lovely photos!! This time I just drove by it on our way to the surfing beach Wilderness. My friend wanted to surf and I found a little spot where to relax and go in the water!!! There are no restrooms here and sometimes someone comes to sell food and drinks (water, sodas etc) but mostly it’s best if you bring your own food and drinks. To get to the surfers beach you need a good car with good wheels and traction because there are many sand and mud holes on the way.

Has anyone been here recently? Did this area suffer a lot of hurricane damage?
Written October 13, 2017
It's true the access road is bad with lot of potholes. But it is not dangerous. Like everything else in life, just be careful, if you see something weird just turn around and go away. But the place is beautiful.
