Wow! An exquisite natural interactive wonder. Bright aqua pools cascade into waterfalls of rejuvenation for mind, body, soul. Highlight is the rope/rappelling down a Boulder into the Bleu. You feel like Indiana Jones!

This place is amazing one of the best things to see while in Haiti. I have been to Bassin Bleu 10 times everytime i go its just as amazing. If you are going for the first time you will need a guide and i strongly recommend Sadrac 011-509-37187966 (might be different calling from Haiti). Amazing young man who is very good at english can even pick you up from the Hotel or bus station in Jacmel and bring you to Bassin Bleu. Even if you have transportation up there and the guides come up to you still ask for Sadrac trust me. You must have a guide when going to the Bassin they carry a large rope for the repel into the large pool. There is a hike in about 15 mins i wouldnt recommend people who are not in very good shape to do that. I also wouldnt recommend walking from Jacmel to Bassin Blue its about 2 hour walk/hike and for the few dollars it costs take a taxi. If anyone has questions feel free to message me

Words or pictures can not describe it. It's God's idea of a pool.
Now, for a great experience, you must have a good guide once you arrive at the station. My guide was excellent, I paid him $27 and I felt bad after the trip. He took marvellous spontaneous priceless pictures of my fiancee and I at impossible angles by climbing onto steep rocks... Jump with us into the water etc... very honest man. Highly recommended, his name is St Ville. (011 509) 3686 6767. Call him ahead if you plan to go because he will tell you the best time to come, some time some weekends the place is too crowded, or the water is not so nice after a rain .

I won't tell you how to get there because it's a secret. tour companies are destroying the jungle with their trucks and vans. if you really have to see this paradise, show some respect and ask a local to take you.

nothing i dislike. take a donkey, horse or a mototaxi up, walk back. spend no time on the lowest pool and all on the upper two. on the thrid one, climb up the waterfall with quite some help from a local.

This is an adventure that you should come see. It is an interesting drive and be prepared for a walk. The end result is amazing water and paradise. Pay the guides the fee and they will take you and show you the safe ways to get to were you are going!

The trip is a little rough as there is no asphalt road but once there it makes up for it 10 fold. There are actually 3 bassins and bassin bleu is the 3rd and the highest one (counting from the bottom up). It's a little of a climb to get there but once there it is the most beautiful thing ever. i cant say enough about it so i will let my picture speak for themselves. There is a bureau there that says you have to pay to see it. The fee includes a tour guide and a rope but i dont think the bureau is really an official thing, Just some people trying to capitalize (which i cant be mad at them for).

Bassin Bleu is one of the nicest places I have ever been to. There is a big waterfall that goes into a blue pool of refreshing water. The guides Sadrac and Santo who are also cliff divers were second to none.

Basin Bleu is amazing....a must when visiting Haiti. A Tour of Historic Jacmel, Raymond Beach and a great day of swimming & diving at Basin Bleu. Sadrac has been my GUIDE for the past 3 years...I have been to the Basin for 8 visits. Sadrac will walk the trail...help you down the rocks and dive for you...please provide a $5 fee per person. Sadrac can plan all the day with you & your group for $25...meeting you in Jacmel or coming to Port aux Prince and arrange a trip to Jacmel & Cayes. Van Service approx $125. Sadrac $25 per day. sadrac09@yahoo.fr - www.projecthelphaiti.com

An adventure from beginning `til end. It takes a while to get there if you decide to hike, but it is all worth it. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Once you get there, it is a good idea to hire a guide, because they know their way more easily. I truly recommend it.

Hi... is there an entrance fee for Bassin Bleu? If so, how much?
James M

HI, there isa nominal fee to access the site but you are required house guides get to the various pools. The walk is not easy, and if it has rained in the past days the bassin will not be blue, but rather a murky brown. The guides worked tips and decline to quote a price before departure. They try to get the most they can from you. Anything more than 20$ US per person is almost robbery, i've heard of people paying upwards of 50$ which is a total ripoff
How popular is Bassin Bleu with tourists? Is it busy? Moderate? Almost empty?

Hi Julia!
Well when I went with my friend to bassin we went early in the morning and it was the first day of carnaval in Jacmel so it was perfect no tourists at all ! I would not be able to tell you wether it was because people were preparing carnaval or luck though... good luck to you and I was you won’t cross many people:D it is worth it anyway !!

Hey I will be in Labadee on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Is there a safe way to get to Bassin Bleu from there and if so how?

Hi! Sorry i have just seen your question..
Bassin bleu is in the south near jacmel and labadee is north, if you go by bus from north to south you will need 7hours ... but from labadee i would suggest you take a small fisher boat (just outside the touristy labadee beach) and go to l’île a rat nice empty and very tiny beach ! You can also ask to go to bananier beach you need to negociate the price at least half the price they tell you!!

Hello, we are visiting Haiti this summer and would love to get to the falls however we are coming in by cruise ship to Labadee, do you think a local taxi would take us all the way to the falls or should we arrange a private transfer? Also did you wear water shoes? Many thanks

I assume you're talking about the resort Royal Decameron north of Port au Prince. It was a three hour drive from PaP to Jacmel which is basically where Bassin Bleu is. I don't know how far it is from the Royal Decameron to PaP, but I'm guessing 2-3 hrs as well. It's not that far as the crow flies, but everything takes longer in Haiti due to traffic; especially in PaP.
How much does it cost, is it a public place or private?

Approximately $10 US dollar per person in tips to the guide for taking you along the trail and down to the basin.

How High is the jump into the bassin?

You can pretty much sit on the edge and slide in, on the pond side.
Some people were climbing up on the underside of the waterfall (which is the opposite side to where you enter) and jumping off from a high point there (looked risky to me!) But there's no need to take a high dive to enjoy Bassin Blue just for a swim or to sit on the rocks in the centre.
