It was a delight to once again meet Paulino to explore the birding world of Cayo Coco (last time was 15 years ago!). He met us at the resort equipped with scope and Vortex binos for those without them, and we spent an enjoyable half day tracking down most of the birds that we wanted to see. His 1955 Belair can comfortably hold 5 visitors with backpacks etc. The easiest way to connect with him is through Watsapp. Given the times, we all wore masks and drove with the windows open, so everyone felt comfortably safe. Paulino is very personable, and speaks English well so we enjoyed his company as much as we enjoyed the exploring.

Our third outing with Paulino in the last two years and he never fails to deliver. We spent 4 hours on Cayo Coco and adjoining islands and saw 37 different birds, including several endemic to Cuba. Pauline is so knowledgeable about birds and a master at locating them. A thoroughly enjoyable morning! We'll be back!

My wife and I did a half day with Paulino. First thing he asked was "What do you want to see" Flamingos. He took us up the island and lo and behold, hundreds of them. This area was good for water birds. Next we go the other way and go to where they have the cave parties and many song birds. Enjoyed this excursion very much. I booked him online from home.

I adore birds and felt it fitting to make arrangements with a person that had the expertise and similar passion to share his knowledge while I vacationed in Cayo coco. Paulino Lopez was very easy to connect with through email and It is how I communicated to him our time frame of visit to Cuba and expressed my desire to do both full day and half day birding tours. I'm glad to have the foresight to pre arrange in advance as we had committed to dates of birding and he did not fail to promptly pick us up at our resort as originally planned. My husband joined us on the full day excursion and he may not be as devoted to birdwatching as I am, however, he took away the whole experience of riding shot gun in a refurbished 1955 chevy bel air having casual conversation with Paulino and captured many great photos of birds we did encounter. I highly recommend the full day birdwatching tour as it's a richer experience traveling the causeway to Cuba where Paulino takes you off the beaten path to search for the endemic Cuban birds that would never be found on resort. Paulino birds by ear and would play back the particular bird he hears song to flush it into visability for us to witness. He uses a laser light to direct each passenger a guarantee to view each target bird. He trys very hard to find the prize birds to enrich the experience even when the bird might be uncooperative to show itself. Thus when Paulino says please don't slam the door of his car, it's not because he is protective of his car doors.....but his interest to not scare off the bird from view. Favorite bird sighted on the full day tour were purple gallinule, great lizard cuckoo,Cuban pygmy owl,Cuban trogon, Cuban green woodpecker Cuban tody, of course many more birds were seen but these were our personal favorites. The full day includes a stop for lunch where Paulino helps to order a delicious Cuban meal for all riders and have easy conversation while eating. We agreed to have another person tour with us as more like minded people can enrich the birding experience. I also went the half day tour birdwatching with Paullino with two separate other interested tourists and quite enjoyed this trip out too, as we found other target birds such as mangrove cuckoo, oriented warbler, Cuban gnatcatcher, and clapper rail. It happened to be a windy day so more difficult to locate birds but still able to find some gems. I highly recommend if you have the chance to seek the assistance of Paulino to capture the best possible bird sightings.

We enjoyed a day trip with Paulino and were amazed at the variety and quantity of birds he was able to find. We saw the top two on my wish list; the beautiful, little Cuban Today and the Cuban Trogon, Cuba's national bird. Riding in Paulino's 1955 Chevy was a treat. Paulino was very knowledgeable and professional. Would highly recommend.

Paulino took our family to many spots that had numerous birds. From Pink Flamingos to Bats, this was a fun and educational morning for myself, wife and kids. Paulino has a number of telescopes and binoculars which he provided. He would call the birds with individual songs for various species. I would not usually book something like this and was glad we did. If you are looking for something unique and memorable...this is it.

We spent a half day with Paulino ($100 CUC/2 people) and he is very knowledgeable and can spot a bird in a second!!! I took so many beautiful pictures and of course he showed us the flock of Pink Flamingo's that migrate to Cayo Coco every year. It was a very interesting excursion with him and I would highly recommend taking in a trip with him.

We got to see many common but also very rare birds with Paulino! He knew how to find and call them so they would show themselves. He head all the necessary equipment to get the best views. We had our 6 year old child with us and Paulino managed to do this interesting for her as well. Well spent time and lot's of beautiful views to carry with me forward!
Thank you, Paulino!

Though not a birder, I like the outdoors and nature and had a great trip with Paulino. He identifies birds a quarter mile away, and knows where to get them, including the Tody and kestrels.
