We made a cruise with a visit to Jost van Dyke. This site is a long way from the pier with an expensive taxi ride to the pool. Once there the walk to the pool is poorly marked. The path from end of road can...More
We visited in early December and our Charter Boat Captain took us to Bubbly Pool. It was sad seeing Foxy’s Taboo destroyed from the hurricanes but hopefully they will rebuild. The hike to the Bubbly Pool from the dock is about a half of a...More
We have been here twice now. There is a hike to get here from the NE corner of Jost Van Dyke. We were here Oct. 2018 and it is not closed to visitors as some people have mentioned, although the trail is a lot more...More
Unless you make the hike at the right time you may be disappointed. The tide has to be coming in to make it bubbly. We made the hike in about 20 minutes because the site was "closed" due to the hurricanes in September. No signs,...More
For this excursion you should be agile and able to walk a distance. It is not for someone who has difficulty walking on uneven Terrain or climbing hills. After anchoring in Diamond Kay it's a short dinghy ride to the shore where you'll follow a...More
There were still piles of trash on the beach from the hurricanes, but the hike up to the pools was an interesting way to see a bit of the inland of the islands instead of just the beaches. Look out for cacti on the hike...More
Though there at low tide so the bubbles weren't quite the thrill you could see that this would be a great place to go at high tide. A bit of a walk to get there that might be a challenge for younger children. Due to...More

What an amazing place! We love it here and usually stay 4 days to a week at a time! There are treasures in paradise here! We absolutely loved the adventure of sailing on Endeavor II. That is the wooden sloop that was built by the kids at JVD behind Foxy's Bar-- The sloop is finished and is so much fun to sail! They do offer charters- contact Susan, the Director at Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society for details, her office is behind Foxy's Bar Also we really loved the Full Moon party...More

Any recommendations on how to get to B-Line from Jost? We would love to visit there but it's new since our last stay.
Jost in December (2 Replies)
Family is heading to White Bay for a week in December and staying at the Pink House Villas. Was wondering how the Bubbly Pool is in December? Also, any feedback on Foxy's weekly BBQ on Friday / Saturday? We definitely have Corsairs on the list for dinner one night, any other recommendations would be appreciated.

The Bubbly Pool could be up or down in December, it really is weather and swell dependent. We were there for two weeks and just got back. We stay within walking distance to Bubbly Pool. Most days it was not very active but last week it got windy and rained for two days, immediately after that it was bubbling away. If you get to the East End of Jost, be sure to stop by at Foxy's Taboo and Jewel's. Also, B-Line on Little Jost is always good for an afternoon. Foxy's weekly BBQ is always a...More
Bubbly Pool - Jost Van Dyke - tides? (3 Replies)
This is probably a lame question, but we're trying to decide whether it's worth the effort to get to the Bubbly Pool during our day trip to JVD from Tortola. I've read it's best to go to the pool at high tide. Looking at the tide charts for the week we're there, the highest tide occurs in the middle of the night (height of about 1.5 feet.) The second highest tide time occurs during the day but its height is only .79 feet. Does anyone know if that kind of tide will still make the bubby pool...More

Tide is nothing here, almost insignificant. The thing which makes it worthwile at Bubbly Pool is wave action, north swell particularly. Check windguru for height, direction and lenght of the waves. Prolonged winds of 15+ knots will create good size waves - 6-7ft+. That will splash in the pool. If the lenght of the waves is 7+, you have a swell. Even better for the pool. Add N-NE wind direction and you will have good action there. Having said that, please be careful if there are large...More
