Lovely humble church

A really quaint, lovely, peaceful church. Humble and honest. Well looked after and respected. A beautiful building with a lot of history.

Amazing Wall Paintings
Feb 2020
The most interesting feature of this church must be the 12th century wall paintings. They are understandably a bit faint. There are also some beautify stained-glass windows.

Aka Worth Church
Sep 2018 • Friends
Also known as Worth Church, this beautiful and historic site dated back to Saxon times. Look for the tall doorways that allowed for a horse rider to enter without dismounting! (Drive through worship!) Note the high windows to protect those inside in times of attack. The burial ground holds many old and newer stones of significance.

Beautiful
Jul 2017 • Family
This is such a pretty church and you can't but help feel the sense of history when you are in it. It's very small and intimate and I'd love to go back when I have more time to spend there.

St Nicholas church is a quaint old church perched on top of a hill. It has a car park and it is worth having a look round inside. It dates dack to 1140. One of three churches serving the parish.

A Norman gem
Sep 2016
If you are anywhere in the Woking area it is worth making the effort to visit St Nicholas Church, Pyrford, a little gem perching on a hill in the pleasant Surrey countryside. One can reach it by footpaths and easily by car (there is parking) but be careful of the road - there are blind spots and pedestrians in particular should be alert. The church itself remains unaltered since 1140 with only the addition of pews in Victorian times and a stained glass window. It's beauty and serenity are very moving.

Beautiful Little Church and Graveyard
Jul 2016 • Solo
St Nicholas Church is in the small village of Pyrford, about three miles east of the centre of Woking. It makes a good destination for a hike in the Pyrford Common area, though you need to plan your route to avoid the busy, narrow roads in the area. As modern Woking is far from historic, it's nice to see a local, non-ruined building that dates back to the twelfth century by which you can connect with the rich history of the area. The church itself is very small and invites a few moments of solitary contemplation both inside and out.
