A little awkward to get to from central London, but worth the visit if you have an interest in Islamic history in Britain. The mosque is very small on the inside, but it's a truly beautiful old building. The door was unlocked at my time of visit so I think you can just turn up and have a look inside. Definitely a change of pace from other historical sites around the UK.
Also check out the Islamic Peace Garden nearby!

I visited the mosque a couple of years ago and then again in February this year. The welcome I received from the Imam, Muhammad Saeed Hashmi was very warm. We chatted about places of worship and I mentioned I am from Cardiff. He was very knowledgeable about the fact that Britain's first mosque was in Cardiff. But the Shah Jahan Mosque was the first purpose built mosque in Britain. The visit then was fleeting and I didn't enter the mosque, but the Imam invited me to return any time. I was there again in February this year, but didn't go in. I'll be in Woking in the beginning of June, I arrive on a Friday. If I'm early enough I may ask the Imam if I can join in Friday prayers. I recommend a visit to the Shah Jahan Mosque. It's beautiful.

I visited this mosque last year with my partner. We were asked to remove our shoes and invited in - one male and one female. The history was explained by one of the men in charge. An interesting experience and friendly to non-Muslims.

I’ve been working in guilford for few weeks and I was travelling all the way from east london. My shift hours are normally 15-17 hrs and I work 3 days a week. As I was working nearby mosque thought I could stay in my car for few hours before Midday prayer as it’s a long way back to home for me after work. I was peacefully parked in mosque and I’ve taken permission from the guy called hafiz a caretaker. But as I was their today Big bearded tall guy Imam approach me and told me to leave the mosque as he said I’m not allowed to stay there by law made by mosque committee.
As they owned the mosque a public funded community place. I was so disappointed and frustrated but had no option but to leave.
It left me with a thought of how these so called Imams and preachers have lost the concept of hospitality that Islam teaches us and how to behave with traveller accordingly. Allah help us all.

I visited the mosque as part of an event to officially open the Woking Peace Garden at Horsell Common. The Imam and his wife offered a very warm welcome and we enjoyed the entire event very much. It was wonderful to see Britain's oldest purpose-built mosque still in daily use.

Visited twice in the last couple of months with different members of my family. It never ceases to amaze - built in the Indian style - it's like being transported to India in the middle of Woking. A reminder that Britain was once an Empire and not the small country it is now. Highly recommended - a great, free piece of history to look at.

This Mosque is the oldest purpose-built Mosque standing in Britain today. Muslim service personnel worshipped there in both world wars. We visited in a November to commemorate their memory and to open the new peace garden. The Imam is warm and wise gentleman who is dedicated to peace and unity.

Have been here several times and I love the tranquility and peace this place gives. The management is also very professional which helps keep things in order when busy events like the Friday Prayer and specials celebrations take place. Great work and proud to see such dedication and commitment!

Nice old mosque in Woking. It’s a 15 minute walk from the train station but worth a look. Recommended.

They were really inviting and here’s us with a tour of the different sections. Beautiful artwork. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. Ample space for parking . Unless thee is. Big funeral.
