Tranmere Rovers fan here who attended our 1-0 loss recently ðŸ˜, but enough of that time for the review.
On the day there was a fiasco with the turnstiles because some supporters tickets were not reading on the scanners so club officials had to hand out replacements that thankfully would read 😳. Once inside I queued up at the food stall hoping to purchase a Vegan Sausage Roll, alas sadly they were out of of stock so after a little pondering bought a Meat and Potato pie instead, it wasn’t worth it unfortunately, tasted a little warm inside of piping hot and the potato was too solid 😩 (next time I will attend the chippy over the road).
Not too impressed with the toilets either, only one door meaning at half-time when they get busy you end up waiting a while to leave due to the ongoing rush of people entering.
What made it a good trip was the view from the away end which was close to the pitch and nothing to obstruct the view.
Just a shame about the result.

Proper football ground, British traditional with seating and terracing. Decent stands, not modern, this is an old ground with old seats so don't expect luxury or comfort. I visited as an away supporter and the view is superb as it on pitch-side and not stuck behind a goal. You can see all 4 corners from the away seats and both goals with an uninterrupted view with no poles, posts or obstructions. The tiny terraced chip-shop outside the ground away turnstiles is recommended too, excellent. Open before and after the game. Rochdale AFC stewards need better training as perhaps they are not used to large away following. A couple of idiots within the away section let off blue flares so searching at the turnstile point of entry was not carried out properly. Inside the ground, stewards are rather dozy and did not deal with a lunatic who invaded the pitch (harmless) after the away side scored. They need to be more alert. Good pub adjoins the ground too, The Ratcliffe Arms. One of my favourite away grounds to visit as it is spot on traditional, friendly and a good view. .

Rochdale AFC is a traditional football club playing in English League 1 at a 10,000 seater stadium that provides an friendly, safe and intimate football experience.
A new feature for this year is Desmond’s Den providing fun for young and older kids prior to and after the game.
The prices are low for entry and for food and drink. Players are always willing to have a chat, a photo and an autograph, for kids but also for older fans too.

Really friendly crowd. Great to talk to whilst having a drink at the club, within a ground. Lovely bijou, old family ground. One of my favourite football experiences.

Strange not to be behind the goal as away fans but nice enough ground. Nothing to complain about at all. Bar at the ground is good and fans can mix without any aggro. Tidy little stadium with reasonable pies. Not a bad programme either, they don't just go with the standard League 1 template, looks like there's an actual editorial team with their own features. It's a bit of a trek from the station, about half hour plus walk. Not a scenic walk either so grab the bus from town, number 478 I think it is that goes right to the ground. On the way back bus stop might be full so I grabbed an uber instead of walking back. The driver was telling me how there's very little to do in Rochdale these days but they're soon building a more central shopping and cinema complex so hopefully that brings the place back to life. There is a nice enough church and museum in town and a couple of reasonable looking pubs but this isn't one of the most interesting towns to visit before a game.

I cannot praise this club enough. A good bar with good beer. A great set of home fans who are always outgoing and friendly. The pies are one of the best in the league and served hot which was great for the cold Tue night we were there. Stewards are great. I always feel warmly welcomed here, other away fans that have been there feel the same.Any chance I get to follow my team to this ground I will be there. Thank You everyone associated with the club.

A taxi ride from the Best Western town centre hotel got us to the club bar an hour before Kick off where there were more away fans than home. Great atmosphere and very friendly. A good draw helped Rochdale survive in League 1 ...well done to them...whilst helped keep us out of the play offs!!!...so a return journey next season is on the cards. Great pubs and museum in town...a great place to visit and close to Manchester and Bury.

Ok, i confess, im a Rochdale fan of 30+ years, so im slightly biased. But, having visited most of our league 1 and 2 rivals grounds, i have to say 'The Crown Arena' -too give it its full title- is one of the better stadiums.
For locals thinking of going to watch their local team, and not sitting on their backsides watching some telly football, you really should make the effort. Its gonna cost you somewhere between £17 and £25 to get in. Parking on some of the side streets is free, as long as you respect the residents you shouldnt have any problems. You'll have a choice of 3 stands to watch the game, one of which is an 'old-skool' terrace. Or, if you prefer to sit theres the main stand or family stand. A pre match pint in the Radcliffe arms is about £3, what youd pay down at your local, you can even nip back into the bar at half time and have another one. A brew is gonna set you back £1.50, throw in a pie too and youll get change from a £5er. As the stands arent usually full, feel free to move around, youre not set too one particular seat. As for the football, well things have certainly changed over the last 5 or so seasons. Thanks to our fantastic manager (Keith Hill) and his staff, and squad of players, including many from our youth academy, we're a decent team, playing football the right way, not just some long ball merchants.
Away supporters should enjoy a visit too. You'll be in a stand of your own, along one side of the pitch, theres an excellent chippy just on the road opposite the turnstiles. I havent seen any trouble over the last few seasons, so nothing to be worried on that front.
Like i said before, im biased, and love my club and stadium.

What a treat. The lads in the club shop could not be more helpful. The friendly atmosphere was great. Definitely a family club where kids are welcome

Can coaches park in the stadium car park
Written August 26, 2019
I imagine you're going to Rochdale v Ipswich on 7 September!
I was there as an away fan a week ago. The police made a part of Ings Lane into a one-way street, and used half of the road as a car park for away fans' coaches. I would guess they will do the same for your fans. From there it's about a one-minute walk to the ground.
Have a look on Google Maps and all will become clear!
But maybe call the club just to be sure?
