One of the best views on a golf course you’ll fined.
Designed by the late great Harry vardon in the 1900s
Could do with some big TLC to get it up and running again. Lovely place to begin the game and take family.

Great place to both practice and walk plus fantastic views - park at the free car park next to Windmill pub

I live nearby and use the golf course very frequently - sometimes to play golf and almost daily to walk or run through.
It views over the Bristol Channel to Wales are awesome and the tracks along the coast path wonderful to walk and run through with paths down to the beach and water itself.
In the spring through to autumn the golf course itself is well looked after and it is a beautiful place all year round.

Great view but not the best course

Fantastic view of Wales overlooking the Bristol Channel however the course isn't kept to a good enough standard for regulars to return. Despite this, it's incredibly cheap for a round of 9. A great pub also right next to the course.

Very challenging pay & Play with fabulous views

This 9 hole course which had been languishing unloved for years has recently been taken on and is being turned around. It does not by any means have pristine greens but believe you me they are great fun to play on and even for a regular golfer definately give you a challenge.
For all of us part time irregular golfers it is a wonderful place to practice and improve your skills , enjoy the fantastic views over the river and at £5:00 a round a positive bargain.
Id say get out there and give it a try

Great location but a real shame about the course

Portishead Golf Course could be a fantastic place for a round of Golf, unfortunately the course is in such poor condition we were loosing balls in long grass on what should have been the fairway....the course is more or less unplayable unless you can hit the green everytime, which sadly i cannot.

Could be a great asset to the local area but until someone gets hold of it who will properly maintain it there is very little point in playing there.

You get what you pay for

Despite the cost being only £5 for a round I believe more effort should be put into the upkeep for only 9 holes (e.g Ashton Court is £6 and 18 holes!). Lots of old grass clumps all over the fairway with putting greens full of daisies, lumps and bumps.

The map was difficult to figure out and I ended up missing a hole as the signs said one thing, the map said another, and what I saw just confused everything (holes 6 and 7 I'm looking at you).

Beware of dog walkers, even though signs are posted the course cannot be monitored (one camera at the hut to ensure payment out of hours) leaving dog walkers to roam free. I suppose it's their own fault if there dog gets hit, I'm a pretty awful shot.

All in all, average course needs a bit of TLC but good enough to start out if you're a bit rubbish (like me).

PS. views are ridiculously good

Nice to have, but terrible pitch and put...

If you are a golpher, then dont bother, if you want a bit of fun, with one club and a putter then ok but it is bleak and windy, and the greens are... or are they...

Wonderful dog walking area , rarely see any golfers

Walked my dog here long before it was a golf course as it's a lovely place to walk, peaceful and amazing views. I still walk my dog here even though signs have now been put in place advising that golfers take priority and restricting where we can walk. Since it has been a golf course dog walkers; countless (as always) Golf players ; rarer than .... well I've more chance of spotting a penguin. I agree with Andy, the chappie who cuts the grass (seeing less and less of him too) can be abusive.

Wonderful views and place to relax and play golf
Sep 2016 • Friends
This 9 hole golf course is always well kept and being on a slope is actually a fun place to test your golfing skills.
The scenery and views over the Bristol Channel across to Wales and the Severn bridge are awesome.
So overall a lovely relaxing and fun time can be had for all ages - I have brought my friends and family here many times.

This is not a great course - yet but there are plans! Meanwhile this is a fine place for a not serious game with friends and with the most stunning views of the Bristol Channel. £5 for a round reflects the course as it is. My guess is this will be pricey once they do it up
