A lovely view from my Window, no matter what season, plenty of greenery, nice lake, open spaces, kids play area, outdoor exercise area, big enough to have a pleasant walk, cycle or run. Pleased to have this lovely park on my doorsteps.

This park is like most in the area - a scattering of rats but mostly clean. A small ish park but a large open space. There is a good play area for kids (small and big kids) and there is an outdoor gym. There is a large pond with plenty of geese and ducks too

South Park would be everything (and more) that you want in your neighbourhood park. This is situated very close to A13, and is accessible from 3-4 different sides. The best thing about it is that it has almost everything that one can think of for people from diverse age groups and interests. There is a play area for toddlers, a separate one for school going ones, and then tennis courts, basketball courts and a play area for teenagers as well, and not to miss the outdoor gym for adults. And if you are the type who would like to sit on the greens and leisurely gaze around at scenic surroundings... well there's a lake along the greens with 5-6 different varieties of birds (ducks, geese, pigeons, bats, sparrows, swans). And with an abundance of trees and flowers (some planted by volunteers), the idyllic setting is complete. I found so many things that could be learnt by administrators in countries like India on how to develop and maintain their parks and recreational areas- simple things like resident/community participation, having a park keeper residing within the park (proper office and a gypsy that goes alongwith it), abundance of information to interest the visitors (couple of photos are attached)- sample this... the park is more than a hundred years old, and is older than most of the surrounding residential areas, and has a history too- during WW2, apparently a rocker had fallen in the park that destroyed the park keeper's office and residence and claimed quite a few lives!!! You can't imagine any of this if you were not told... So, if you are anywhere in Ilford, grab your sneakers, a book, your kids, rackets, balls...anything else that catches your fancy, and head over to this wonderful place. It'll be fun...
