Hidden Gem
Dec 2017 • Friends
After a round of golf on the newly laid out course, the friendly and welcoming clubhouse hidden away in a row of houses hosting over 100 years of history was the perfect place to discuss our round at this pretty yet tough course.
The food was lovely and well presented and a fantastic service from the bar. The members are friendly and very welcoming. A great place to come even if your not playing golf. All in all a fabulous day ⛳️

Tight course, not long, but well kept fairways and good greens. Welcoming club and bar. Well worth a visit.

Friendly club, great greens

Ilford golf course is an excellent course, shorter than some but still challenging in that it is tight in places and therefore not forgiving for the wayward drive.

As a well established course it has a variety of trees which make it a stunning place to play golf all year round. Who would believe we could have such a pretty golf course on the outskirts of London.

The clubhouse has an inviting bar and restaurant with friendly staff, well worth a visit for the after round lunch.

A pleasant golfing surprise
Sep 2017 • Friends
I was invited to play at Ilford Golf Club last weekend and it was a pleasant surprise. In the middle of a residential area you wouldn't know it exists. My approach through the car park wasn't the best I've experienced of golf clubs and it certainly needs sprucing up but I'm pleased it didn't put me off. After all the rain we've had the course was amazingly well drained and in good condition. A smaller course than some but challenging with tight fairways and greens. I was lucky enough to have been invited by members but found the time in the clubhouse very welcoming and would certainly go again. I had a nice lunch in the restaurant which was good quality and not expensive. I agree with a couple of other reviews that it is tired in places but from the 'terrible' review description I didn't recognise any of the criticism on this little gem of course just outside the east end. No sign of a septic tank and the only wildlife I saw was a fox and cat. Not even sure it's the same course. I could only mark it as average - it should be good really. Look forward to going again.

Tight course to play, greens in excellent condition. No dogs in sight as mentioned in previous review. Worth a visit or join as fees really reasonable.

excellent little course

This is a is an excellent course. True it is not long, but because it is narrow it challenges you. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition and the people really friendly. It is amazing that this little gem is so close to London

Dog mess everywhere, 3 holes held up by dog walkers going across/down the fairways, up imaginative holes which were all very samey.

The greens had several divots in and I appealing blue-green spray on them- why not keep them natural? First few holes run past a septic tank which makes the smell unpleasant. No map on the scorecard to let the first timers know where they are going, or how to play the holes.

Worst of all, on each of the first 6 holes I was held up by greenkeepers mowing/digging! I almost hit one with my ball who zoomed in from nowhere onto the green I was aiming at. Luckily it landed a few yards short. This was extremely distracting, and worse than being held up by slow play (which I was, later on, but I can't really blame the course for that).

For twenty pounds this was a much worse experience than some other local courses and I won't be going back in a hurry.

Played here a few times as a guest and regret its a poor course and facilities are also below par. Needs sprucing up handsome of the holes need changing as some are not challenging at all.
