Not being local and visiting the area I called ahead before visiting. The lady gave me times, prices, locker details and special offer details- fabulous.

Then on visiting with my sons 10 yrs and 15yrs I was very impressed.
The changing rooms were very clean and spacious. And showers were strong and warm.

The pool itself was a good temperature too.

One of my boys has ADHD and we are just learning how to deal with this out in the public - my son spoke abruptly to 2 if the lifeguards and they dealt with it with great skill, they could see that after his comments I was speaking to him and didn't show offence or become agitated - I was so grateful for this.

Fabulous pool, we will certainly be going again when we are back in the area.

I learnt to swim here and always had great fun as a child but now days hasn't changed much in 20 years. Pool wise that is! The spa is new and gym also but both are poorly equipped. I read that 1miillion pound was spent on refurbishment. Well I think someone of higher authority needs to look at where that money was spent as I personally think it has been dwindled or over priced. I am a member due to the ultra membership contract where I can use all local council gyms and the local squash courts but it £57 which is ridiculous for the service we get. The staff are generally rude and more interested in there mobiles under the desk rather than engaging with a customer. When my contract expires I will be terminating my membership

Unfortunately, need to take my son swimming here as it is local, however, the staff and reception are incredibly rude - no customer service skills whatsoever! The swimming instructors are just as rude, luckily the lady who taught my son no longer seems to be there (she was just awful) and a young man has taken over who seems to be a little better. The changing rooms are dirt, as are the showers (I tend to take him home and shower him) facilities are very poor and I am hunting down a better place nearby.

The steam room and so called spa at the Fullwell Cross Leisure Centre in Barkingside, Essex should be avoided. The place needs a very deep clean as there is mould and grime all over the place. The men's changing room really leaves a lot to be desired. How they manage to satisfy the health and safety regulations is beyond me. The floors are almost always dirty and the showers are absolutely pathetic. They are luke warm and the water pressure has the strength of an asthmatic hamster. The staff do very little to control the sometime rowdy idiots who attend. A spa and steam room should be sanctuaries of calm - this place is anything but. I would not recommend this place at all. Don't waste your money.

My child has been learning how to swim at this leisure centre,It has been over 6 months and they are still on stage 1. No one is testing them to see if they can go on to the next stage! Inconsistent instructors! I feel very disappointed with the service! I've complained many times but nothing changes! Different instructor every week. Unfortunately this one is the closest to me but i am trying to change to somewhere else! Even if it means i have to travel further out! A total waste of money!

If you want your child to be put off swimming for the rest of their life this is the place to go. Teacher very unfriendly, pushes the child with his trainers if they are slow getting in. Can't be bothered to encourage them in any way or fashion. I just wish I had listened to the reviews before enrolling. On top of that several times the teacher didn't turn up then a replacement was found to start the lesson always 5/10 mins late which is quite a lot when the whole lesson is 25 mins. The replacement teacher never knew what they had been doing. Last lesson left the child sobbing all the way home in the car saying they don't want to ever go swimming again. They won't have to here that is for sure. When we tried to complain we were told sorry no one is available till Monday.

Agree with the other comments on the very pool standards of swimming lessons. My son joined a junior life saving course on a Saturday afternoon established by the Royal Life Saving Society. The course was meant to follow their syllabus. After 1 year the Pools instructor had still not assessed my son, and he was simply doing the same things over and over again while the instructor showed off to the female life guards. When I asked the instructor he said he does not follow the course, he does it his way!!! I complained to the centre, the next session he carried out an assessment and awarded their bronze certificate. After which, he promptly went straight back to his old ways. I hasten to add there is nothing wrong with the Royal Life Saving Society’s course. As their was no change I enrolled my son at another centre and he went on to thoroughly enjoy himself completing the course in a proper structured way. My advice is to stay well clear of lessons at this pool until they understand what it means to be professional.

I had a massage this afternoon. The girl was inexperienced, the room was cold and she put the fan on. There are no massage table, just a bed. Her strokes were not coordinated. Her nails dug into my skin and it's hurting. She shouldn't grew her nails if she is doing massage for people. As a whole, it was not worth £40. There is no toilets in the reception area, I had to go to the wet changing room to go to the toilet and there was only one toilet there.

I live round the corner. My son who is 11 and myself have been going every Friday after school. Today was our 4th time. Every week a lifeguard asks him to do a length of the pool which he does. This week he did a length and 30 seconds treading water. We were in the deep end and he was swimming and even going to the bottom of the pool.
Another lifeguard starts his shift and decides my son cannot be in the deep end. He doesnt believe me when I tell him my son can swim and pass the test and that it is our 4th week there.
He made my son cry and we ended up getting out of the pool. So one lifeguard said it was ok and another one didnt.
I will not go back there and will now drive to another pool.

Very disappointed with the facilities and services provided. Spa is beyond any hygiene standards, very dirty, molds everywhere, and the place is extremely loud. If you think of going there to relax and gain a pleasant experience, I will suggest to reconsider this option. Gym is ok, just avoid busy time. Swimming pool... no difference between stepping into icy water or this pool, Staff members are unprofessional, always tired of life, not bothered and angry if you have any questions.
