Sunday Roast
May 2021 • Couples
The best Sunday roast I’ve had for ages. Couldn’t eat it all, had a good try though. Socially distanced and all safety measures taken.

Good food but could be better decor!
Mar 2019 • Friends
I went here for a pub lunch. The food itself was very good; home cooked and service was very friendly. It seemed like a real 'locals' pub and in desperate need of a lick of paint. It had lots of interesting model boats and other things to look at, which broke up the general run down feel.

"Could do better" I'm afraid, but definitely has potential

Fine traditional wharfside pub
Feb 2019 • Friends
This place is not the Ritz, that's true. There is no point in complaining about the ambience or level of decoration. BUT this is a lovely, friendly and welcoming traditional dockside pub. It will have plenty of locals and they will be happy to say hello and chat. The food is good quality pub food, and plenty of it .. I really enjoyed the place and I fully recommend it. Pubs like this need our support and deserve to have it

Quiet Drink and whale watching

Nice ales on tap and good bar snacks
Available. Friendly service and the bar staff where very knowledgable of the area. We brought our children who really enjoyed looking over the sea wall at the boats with the hope of seeing the whale. Will return for Sunday lunch now I seen the pictures and reviews of it. Thank you for making us welcome.

Lovely historic pub, lovely staff and lovely food
Oct 2018 • Family
Lovely historic pub located next to the Thames, always serving great food, astonishing portions for such great prices. Child AND animal friendly; bonus! This pub offers a selection of food on their menu, and also their kids menu’s. There are a selection of different bottled beers and ciders, a range of soft drinks and real ales!

I come here regularly as a family to events such as Tapas, bingo and Diner nights. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is ever a problem. Great pub, great people, great food and great prices!

Tapas and afterward tea
Oct 2018 • Family
Well what can I say we went to Tapas night with a group of friends and the food was absolutely outstanding we can’t wait for the next one, great value for money. Whilst we were there we were told about their afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon so I went back with my mum and aunt and the service and quality of food was equally as great, would thoroughly recommend this great little pub and will definitely be going back

To look for the Beluga whale

Went last Sunday, lovely roast dinner but the place could benefit from a good clean and tidy up, table sticky, general mess on shelves and cupboards.

Old, dilapidated, unprofessional.
Jul 2018 • Family
This pub is unfortunately not a hidden gem, and more like a hidden mess. It is located just at the edge of the river, near the Thames and Medway canal; you wouldn't think to go through an industrial estate and a dodgy alley filled with broken glass to get there.

From the outside of the pub, it is completely old and dilapidated, and looks like it was closed down and abandoned years ago. There is grass and weeds growing from the roof and walls of the building and the building literally looks as though it is falling apart. On the inside, it is slightly better, nothing more than a dated pub, with stained walls and carpet. The toilet was awful; the floor was was sticky, wet and covered in urine, the walls were dirty and the window was blocked out by rusty old iron bars.

Apart from the cleanliness and appearance of the pub, the staff do not make it much better. Nothing was organised, the coke tap wasn't working on two visits and so we had to have warm cans of coke, and the larger tab wasn't working either, so we had to wait about ten minutes to get just a single pint.

Outside there is not much space to sit, there are a few benches, however they are about ten inches off the ground so it's almost like sitting in the floor.

All in all, it is not really a pleasant place, and the only reason I'm not giving it a one-star is because of the very cheap price of drinks compared to other pubs. Definitely not worth a visit.

Looks closed but isn’t!
Mar 2018 • Couples
We honestly thought it was closed because of the outside appearance having walked along the Saxon Shore Way from Gravesend. Pleased to find it wasn’t and that the local beers Shrimpers and Northfleet were well kept. If its a grey day you find yourself looking at a concrete wall but in good weather there’s a sea wall terrace to enjoy.
