About
Step away from Enfield’s hustle and bustle to Frog’s Bottom and a pub that’s been part of the McMullen family since 1910. This is the largest yet also the most intimate of McMullen’s now locally famous Chicken & Grill pubs, which are uniquely and individually designed with service that’s personally crafted to suit you. Our fayre includes freshly spit-roasted chicken, fabulous soft serve ice cream sundaes, locally brewed real ales, hand selected wines – all enjoyed by our roaring fires or alfresco when the sun is shining.

Disappointing festive experience
Nov 2021 • Couples
My husband & I visited the Jolly Farmers in Dec 2020 for their festive menu. We were so impressed with the whole experience…..from the service, staff, food, table layout & decorations etc that we booked it again this year…..but unfortunately it did not live up to last years quality, hospitality & expectations 😔 we arrived & our table was not ready….despite having a reservation & the fact that it wasn’t that busy, so we decided to order a drink at the bar while waiting for our table, we waited 5-10 mins to be served at the bar. The table we were given was a corner window table, there was a severe draft, we had to wear our coats for the whole duration, which was very uncomfortable. All in all a very disappointing experience. The food was not as nice as last year’s festive menu.

Sort of `ok
Sep 2021
Lovely looking old building with free parking. Friendly welcome and varied menu. We each opted for Sunday roast (beef( which was sort of ok but nothing special. Cabbage very dry. Extra vegetables ordered tasted freshly prepared. . Won't be rushing back to eat here again.

Lovely service from Staff
Jun 2021
First time back here in over 18 months. Had to reserve a table & could only have it for 1 & a half hours. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Tables inside are well spaced out. The food is basic pub fair but with huge portions. Draught Guinness went down a treat with my Dad.

Hi JKOB311, thank you for your kind review. If you ever need the table for longer on your visit we can extend your table time in advance - just give us a call and we will be happy to do so. We look forward to seeing you again soon. The Jolly Farmers Team :)

Unhygienic staff
Apr 2021 • Friends
Unhygienic staff were eating out of the mix nuts tub. These nut are scooped out and served to customers, but the staff think it was ok to grab handfuls at a times and scoff into their mouths, and repeat, disgusting. We were there for Saturday night meal and drinks, food below average, and the beer was gassy and just did not taste nice. The managers need to hire experienced staff, not children, who understand how to run a pub. Will not be returning.

We would try again
Apr 2021 • Couples
The pub is lovely inside and out, lots of space , very clean , very nice and friendly staff.
My low score was the food. Our starters were ok but very average. Our mains was not great, our chips were cooked more than once and were cold. Neither of our burgers had the right fillings and also no sauce in either, the bun was like elastic and couldn’t be cut of bitten!
The staff came to clear the plates and we had no chance to give any feedback (you can’t go to the bar) but I would have thought sending back to much leftovers you’d ask. However I see the other reviews and I think it was an “off” day, it’s the first hot Saturday of May and it’s
Bank holiday so perhaps the team are stretched and trying to work amongst covid regs must be a pain so standards can slip and no one predicted it to be so hot today so I get it.
We are the sort of people who just won’t go back if we don’t like but I actually would try again, this review is not to be read negative it’s just constructive feedback - I hope. We both commented on how clean the pub was inside and out, the staff are clearly a credit.

Sunday Roast Takeaway
Mar 2021
Collection is straightforward and covid friendly? Having arrived at the appointed time, I was a little disappointed to be told to go wait in my car because my thought process was "oh? its not ready?" Not a bit of it though? That's intentional, you arrive, they dish it up, you go off with freshly served piping hot food. Much better idea!

The food itself was fantastic if you like a traditional Sunday Roast. We all had a different main and none of us were disappointed.

I'm not just promising to return, I've already booked!

Never disappointed, food service, polite and courteous. Clean premises, ambience is great. Food always delicious and well cooked. Good variety of wine. I can recommend the Merlot or Pinot Noir. Look forward to coming in after lock down. Thank you to all the staff
