Selfish Visitors

This place is being ruined by selfish cyclists and dog walkers. The cyclists have no regard for pedestrians. The dog walkers do not keep their dogs under control. Too many people feed bread to the ducks despite the clear signs telling them not to because of the harm it causes.

Great gardens but toilets closed
Sep 2020 • Family
We visited the beautiful grounds to meet my sister and nephew to have a celebratory covid distanced birthday picnic and walk round the grounds. We bought some drinks just before the cafe closed. After finishing our drinks, we we're not allowed to use the toilets which according to the website are open until 7pm. This was 5pm before a 90 mins journey home. The toilets we're the other side of a barrier with a man supervising the barrier who would not let us in, despite having a young child with us. So I'm afraid a big black mark.

Brilliant place
Sep 2020 • Friends
Have visited Forty Hall many, many times before and during lockdown. It offers so much - a walled garden, spaces to sit/picnic, a lake, fishing, a working farm, a farm shop and vineyard. Once a month there is a farmer's market. The house is worth a visit. Great starting point for some amazing walks. Absolutely love the place. Highly recommend.

If you want to go for a tranquil walk with scenic beauty ,this is the place for you.we are a family of 2 adults 2 childs find it always refreshing ,either a picnic by the pond,or cycling with the little one.its a very big area to explore with car park near by.the car park is also free.if you can really take a long walk you can also discover fishing ponds, wild trails etc..its a great outdoor space which is not very crowded.hope you visit soon and have great fun.

Lovely place to visit
Feb 2020
This is a fabulous park to espalier dogs. There are lots of different walks either around the pond and house, or in the woods.
Great house and cafe.

Lovely park, shame about the cafe
Dec 2019 • Friends
I regularly take my dog for a walk around the Forty Hall park. She loves the stream (even in the winter!) and the wooded area most of all.
We also join a bi-monthly group dog walk of around 20+ dogs which is great fun and raises money for animal charities.
We usually end up at the cafe but that's not so good. The cafe advertises itself as dog-friendly but it isn't really. There is no serving window accessible from outside so you have to leave your pet tied up outside, not acceptable if you are by yourself.
After our December walk around the extremely (ankle deep!) muddy park, we met a sign at the cafe saying No Muddy Boots thankyou! So what, buy you coffee in your socks?
Don't be put off, the park is a great place to visit. Wear wellies for now and take your own snacks!
