We visited this estate today to walk off our Sunday lunch. The farmers market was on and so entry to the farmyard was free. Forty Hall was a nice treat to walk around and escape the cold. The children were fascinated by the kitchen. Unfortunately...More

I grew up in the country, and still find - many years later - that I need to revisit it without making too much effort! This is a great place to unwind and there's a good little cafe and a small farm too. I've also...More

We had a great walk round the grounds, including a small authentic farm with lambs, calves, pigs and ducks. Walled garden pretty and well maintained. But the toilets were dirty with no soap or paper. Cafe understaffed with a basic, menu of soup in plastic...More

Approached from the river uphill from the Loop route. We had previously visited, decades ago, by road and so this was a completely different experience. Forgotten how attractive this place is.

The Hall and grounds were excellent. If I hadn't been to the café I would have given it five stars. The café had a fairly short but very slow-moving queue, no list of fillings for sandwiches/paninis, no paninis anyway, no change, no till roll for...More

Good quality but expensive and oh so slow service, they never have enough staff. Can be cleaner, not enough care given to table cleanliness.

Forty Hall offers plenty and is all free. You can walk around the gardens, have a countryside walk and visit the house. The house is a bit sparce, but does have drssing up clothes to entertain younger kids. The cafe is pleasantly located and popular,...More
