unfortunately, the bridge is currently closed due to vandalism. the only other way over the river is via the busy road bridge. not much fun. it's been shut for over a week with no repair date mentioned on the closure notice.

This is a fantastic spot, to just sit and enjoy a coffee on a hot summers day. Just watch the world go by, whilst listening to the relaxing sounds of the water.

As part of the Castleford regeneration scheme this footbridge over the river was erected. It merely connects a number of houses to the centre. Not worth visiting exept for the feat of engineering.

The multi-award winning footbridge offers a relaxing passage across the river, with a chance to look at the historic flour mill, the weir, and the fish and eel ladders, as well as the children's favourite, Thomas, the wrecked barge underneath the bridge.
