Probably not everyone's cup of tea as it is just a grave yard, but it is VERY peaceful here and extremely well maintained.

In such unpresidented times it was so moving to visit both sites. The loss of life in the Commonwealth graves by the last pandemic was eye opening. Lots of them some two to a grave site.... Reality of what freedom really is.... Its not free. Bless them all

Amazing, beautiful, thought provoking place to visit. The grounds are kept immaculate. When every where a round us is in chaos, this is a place of reflection of how futile war is. Nobody really wins in the long run . The loss of life on both sides, some only boys.

We are both very interested in WW1 in particular and have had many trips to Flanders/Somme. We always try and find war graves near to where we are and we had booked a trip to Staffs for the main reason of visiting the German and Commonwealth cemeteries. I was very 'pleasantly' surprised. Having visited German cemeteries in Belgium, such as Langemark and Vladslo, which are rather opressive and a little depressing, this cemetery is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are beautiful, even in winter, and very well maintained, it is such a peaceful resting place for these brave men who gave their lives in both World Wars. Regardless of which side they fought on, these men sacrificed their lives for their country and should be honoured with respect. Very well done to the ground staff for this beautiful cemetery. Some of the questions below, e.g: How long would you recommend for the visit...it depends - you can charge around it in a few minutes or you can linger and wander around all of the graves paying your respects. It took us over an hour and we didn't see every grave or read every headstone! Is it suitable for large parties? - yes, I'm sure they have organised trips, as long as everybody is respectful and adhere to the cemetery 'rules'...the same with visiting with children, as long as they are well behaved and understand why they are visiting (probably not great for very small children).…
