Fantastic family attraction.

On arrival easy to park and free too!

Talks about the personal stories of the monkeys and owls by knowledgable friendly staff was excellent. This honestly was the difference between our day being a good day out to an excellent one so make sure you go along to the monkey and owl feeding time talks which are regular throughout the day. There were also meerkats there too.

I can’t praise the staff any more. From entering the park to walking around the park and in the cafe, gift shop etc everyone working there was so friendly and lovely.

Lily-May (I think was her name) gave all the talks when we visited and she was so engaging and the personal stories of all the animals were so interesting.

The park is so well maintained and clean and the animals are clearly well loved and cared for.

We ate at the on-site restaurant and the food was tasty. We had sandwich/toasted sandwich which was around £5 each and kids had sausage rolls (around £3). Bottles of coke were around £2 so costs generally in line with other parks. However as this place relies on footfall in the park you know that all your money spent goes to help with the upkeep for the park and for the monkeys/owls so you know it’s well worth spending your money to help support the restaurant/park.

I would also highly recommend their lovely ice creams around £2.50. Particularly the triple chocolate flavour! Also good array of other ice lollies for kids etc.

There is also a lovely kids play area there with see saw, swings and climbing frame too which helps to entertain the kids.

We spent around 4 hours there in total and for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) it was around £44 which was well worth it. However you could easily spend longer or shorter if you were in a rush and still enjoy most of the park!

Also if you download the Monkey Haven app you can look for all the bananas which was fun and it would enable you to do different puzzles.

Overall a really lovely place and well worth a visit. We will coming back again when we visit the island again.

They all work very hard to ensure our visitors have a lovely experience and reviews like this mean an awful lot to us all. We are so pleased to hear you loved the keeper talks and enjoyed using our fun Monkey Haven App - which both enable visitors to learn so much more about the animals in our care and what goes on behind the scenes. It's great to hear you'll be returning when you're next on the Island and we can't wait to welcome you back again soon. Many thanks once again from the whole team :)

The place as a whole is well worth a visit, very clean enclosures, shop and cafe. The establishment appears to be expanding to offer forever homes to primates and other animals who are in need by not fault of their own. Support is always needed as it does not come cheap to build the enclosures so the entrance fee etc all contributes. The only issue we experienced is that on previous visits we could both walk but on this occasion we had mobility issues, partner currently being in a manual wheelchair and found some areas a little difficult to manover, staff were available but no offer of support was forthcoming as we struggled on. On the whole though a lovely place to visit, shame about the staff !!

We visited monkey haven as we were on holiday and our youngest (10) loves monkeys. We booked our tickets online and turned up around 10:30. There was only one group in front of us so we got in quickly. From the carpark we could hear a chorus of monkeys whooping and calling to each other and they continued with this for some time which was fabulous to see. We took our time wandering about and stopped to listen to several talks. The keepers were incredibly knowledgeable and informative about the animals in their care and they took time to answer questions from the crowd. We heard Lily-May speak several times and she was brilliant, it really enhanced our day. We also listened to a man talk about reptiles but we didn't catch his name. He even let everyone have a go holding a python! Each animal on the park has lots of personal information displayed so you really get the sense that the keepers know each one personally. They even give them birthdays so that they can celebrate each one through the year with special food and cakes for the visitors! There are great facilities there, clean toilets, cafe, lots of shady or open picnic areas, a shop (expensive but assuming the profits go back into the sanctuary we didn't mind paying). They also have lots of interactive options for little ones with stamps to collect and a fabulous app with qr code to hunt for and extra information, it really was well done. There are also 2 play areas one for under 5s and one for older kids. My husband and I also noticed how immaculate the park was, not a scrap of rubbish anywhere and not even a stone out of place on the gravel, that's not something we normally notice about a place but it really looked incredibly well cared for. The final bonus was that, like many places we have visited on the island this week, you get a 7 day ticket when you visit so we can go back for free any time this week! Definitely an option we would consider 👍 thanks to all the staff for working so hard to make this attraction a little gem ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an enjoyable place to visit where all the animals and birds are very well cared for. Each area has something to really catch your attention and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
For me the stars of the show are the Meerkats and I don't think I will ever forget watching a young Meerkat stand up, look to the sky and turn its head to follow a plane flying overhead until it disappeared into the distance.
The huge owls are also an impressive sight besides the monkeys.
The entry price is good considering how much there is to see and that you can return again free within seven days.
Also handy for bus users is that the stops to and from Newport are a short safe walk away from the entrance.
Highly Recommended.

Visited with 2 young children 4 and 7 midweek was very quiet which was brilliant.

Very reasonably priced, very clean, the staff where brilliant and gave talks about the animals and allowed the children to hold snakes, millipedes and a tortoise which they loved.

Would like to thank Sarah who delivered most of the talks and brought to life the whole experience for our selves and the children 👏

Just had a lovely time at the reopened Owl & Monkey Haven. Looks like they have been busy refurbishing the place during Lockdown and new things added. Had a brilliant group talk by Jordon the reptile handler. He showed us Ringo and taught us not only about her but had extensive knowledge about other snakes and reptiles and his passion about his subject was evident and really informative. Even my snake scared sister relaxed and asked questions.
The "Monkey Brunch" talk was fantastic too and you really got a sense of all the individual little personalities and quirks - all the staff seem pleasant and genuinely caring. They have given the animals a really good home, sometimes from dad or difficult backgrounds.
Before admiring all the handsome owls stopped off for a cuppa and cake at the cafe, pleasantly surprised how reasonably priced, £12.75 for 4 of us.
Really pleasant day out, we were adults but good space for kids to run around and play and wheelchair users had access to all parts.
We'll be back!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. Your kind words of encouragement and support mean the world to us. Jordan and the keepers are especially pleased you enjoyed getting to know the animals at their talks, and it's amazing to hear your sister relaxed around the snakes and was happy to join in asking questions too! Thanks for visiting and supporting our sanctuary and we look forward to welcoming you all again soon :)

What a gem of a place Monkey Haven is, especially for families with young children.

Intimate set up with good sizes enclosures for plenty of monkey species as well as owls, snakes, lizards and meerkats. This is not a zoo so don’t expect that level of interaction and feels family run but offers excellent value for money.

We enjoyed a good 4hr day out with a 7- year old and 9 year old really engaged. The talks are brilliant at feeding times and the keeper (Lily May) knew how to keep the kids interested as well.

Snake talk was really good - felt educational as well as fun.

Decent playground for Under 12s. Nice picnic areas, lovely ice cream and everything within walking distance. Only downside is parking can be tight.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderful 5 star review. Our Primate Rescue Centre is family ran and we try to create a loving family environment throughout the park, so we are very pleased to hear your family had an enjoyable visit. Lily-Mae will be over the moon to hear you and your little ones enjoyed her keeper talk, all of our keepers try their hardest to make their talks as informative and engaging as possible for the whole family. Glad to hear you were also able to catch one of our reptile talks. Apologies if you found the parking to be tight, we are planning to extend our overflow car park next year to help ease this problem during our busy summer periods. Thank you again for your support and we hope to see you again in the near future. :)

Had such a lovely time looking around the different houses for the animals. Its so well laid out, and the keepers really know their stuff. Definitely a great, fun and educational day out for the whole family. Big shout out to Jordan too, who showed and taught the fairly big crowd all about the snakes and owls monkey haven also have hidden for visitors to discover.

Having relatives on the IOW we visit about once a year but have never visited Monkey Haven until now for one reason or another, what a mistake thats been!
The first impression you get is that the people who work there are very helpful and friendly, Wendy who works in the shop and the entrance being a prime example as you get a good welcome to the park and given helpful information.
Once in the park you then see a well kept and modern looking park with good sized enclosures for all the animals.
Unlike a Zoo this place is predominantly a rescue centre taking in animals rescued from the pet trade that would otherwise now have been euthanised.
Monkey Haven really impresses on information, beyond the usual information on the species they give further information about individual animals. One thing we were really pleased to see was information that most other places neglect to mention, such as reptiles and primatesake terrible pets and why so, also information on laughing at what appears to be funny behaviour by primates can actually be seen as aggressive behaviour by primates.
The keeper talks were very impressive as well and full of information, Jordan who did the talks on the day we visited was absolutely superb. For me handling a Royal Python during the reptile talk was just awesome.
The cafe at Monkey Haven has friendly staff and the quality of food on offer is very good and at a reasonable price.
If I could give Monkey Haven more than 5 stars I would as it is amongst the very best places we've ever been to, if your on the IOW then you owe it to yourself to visit this amazing place, not only will you be contributing to a very worthwhile cause but you'll have an amazing time.

Never had a bad time here even when the weather was appalling as they give a free 7 day return. Ok, this time the weather was lovely, if not a little windy and pretty much all the covid restrictions were lifted and the talks by the keepers were back on again. Sarah gave a great talk on the Monkeys and Owls and Nicole (new) gave a wonderfully insightful talk on the Meerkats and their various personalities.

You can tell and the animals are well cared for (Ketch the Eurasian Eagle Owl had ulcers on his feet and they were taped up) and there is a lot of love and affection for every creature. Some people may question the size of the enclosures but the Owls very rarely move from one spot and therefore won't fly anyway. Monkey Haven is a charity and the animals are at the forefront of everything.

I would recommend the App (Android and Apple) as there is a banana hunt as various videos and information snippets too. There are also various photo filters which makes taking a selfie etc a bit more interesting. The QR scanner on your mobile is used to access a wealth of information.

Nothing negative here. Wheelchair and pushchair accessible and friendly staff. I am glad to see they are doing well after Covid.
