Beautiful courtyard
Oct 2020
The courtyard area is very nice. There were large trees that offer shade on a warm day or, in our case, covered tables along several buildings to offer shelter on a rainy afternoon. There's a fountain in the middle, and it's very nice ambience.

Their gift shop is also very nice, with a few unique and fun gifts. We enjoyed browsing around for a little while.

The wine, though... Their wines were not to my taste, nor to the tastes of my friend who was with me. Nonetheless, other people were leaving with cases of wine they had purchased, so they obviously like the wine much more than I did.

Great winery
Dec 2019
T There's something here for everyone.his is one of the oldest wineries in Virginia. We go there because of good wines, friendly people and their many fun filled events. In the Summertime they have live music on the patio. You're encouraged to bring your own food and enjoy a glass of their, award winning, wine. Of course, if you don't want to bring a picnic lunch, you can always purchase food there.
They also have special events like barrel tastings and wine dinners. We have been to several of the Christmas get together's and have always had a good time. Nice friendly people work here. If you're a wine novice, they are always happy to answer your questions. Incidentally, their wines are moderately priced, so you wont break the bank while enjoying them

Good But Not Great
Dec 2019
Our time here was good, but it wasn't great. We felt welcomed, but not warmly so. This vineyard tasting room is a location that, while pleasant enough, is not an establishment that we'll seek out again.

By far one of the best
Sep 2019
We have been regulars for years and are Never disappointed in the selection of wines or the activities they put together. A lovely court yard available to bring picnic lunch or dinner and enjoy one (or 2) of their wines or just to sit and relax with some cheese/bread and wine. They provide very interesting tours. If you have never done one, this is the place to start.

Wonderful people, good wine!
Jul 2019 • Couples
We dropped in thinking we could get a snack and wine only to find that they really don't do food at all. Since we were there, we went ahead and did a tasting (very reasonably priced) and ended up buying a bottle. I think we would have just made a picnic there if they had more muchies in their cooler and it had been 10 degrees cooler. The facility is lovely, with lots of tables and shairs under trees and vines, a really nice place to sip wine on a hot day and have some bread and cheese, just not on a day when the cheese would melt. Driving up I was encouraged to see the age of their stock in the vineyard, and I think this was well reflected in their wines which, if you avoid the sweeter varieties, are pretty good over all, I'm not awine snob, so don't use my taste as a real rating though. Nice stop over!

Lovely grounds.
Jul 2019 • Couples
Pretty good winery. I particularly liked that there was ample shaded areas to sit outside. Lovely grounds. The bathrooms have a bit to be desired. We didn't do a wine tasting so I can't talk to the breadth of wines there but the one bottle that we purchased was pretty good. Twas nice to sit near the fountain and hear the water while sipping a nice red. We will return and try the family of wines and update the review at that time.

Tonite, I opened their 1990 Cabernet!
Jul 2018 • Couples
This evening, while grilling a ribeye and a petit filet mignon, I decided to open the last of two 1990 Ingleside Plantation Cabs that I purchased during a winery visit close to 3 decades ago. Although the cork was slightly compromised (not dried out) the wine was fine and had actually held up quite nicely over the decades. In a nutshell, it was excellent with the above mentioned steaks. So good, in fact, that we plan on visiting the winery again this summer after a 30 year year absence. Next time around, I’ll probably not wait as long to enjoy the wine. 😀

Great courtyard for tasting with friends
Jun 2019 • Friends
Off the beaten path, you drive through a scenic path that reminds you of Italy. At the winery, there is a courtyard that is shaded by trees and when there is music, a great place to relax. Oh, and by the way, you will find the current tastings perfect for seafood. I recommend bringing a box of peeled blue crab or crab cakes to truly enjoy the light offerings. They do offer some cheese and sausage in the gift shop. I can't believe I've missed this winery which is local to me because it makes for a great day trip.

Quick stop
May 2018
We stopped by on our way to Westmoreland Park. I enjoyed several of the wines. The winery was nice. There were a lot of fun things for sale. The outside area looked like a fun place to hang out.

Nice Courtyard - Good Wines
Jul 2018 • Couples
Visited on a Friday - very quiet in the early afternoon. This is one of the older wineries in VA, and shows some of its age. The courtyard is well shaded, and was pleasant for enjoying a glass of wine, even on a fairly warm day. I imagine it gets crowded on a weekend. We tasted 8 or 9 wines, and there were an additional 8 or 9 for sale - a pretty wide selection, including a lot of sweet and off-dry styles. We prefer dry wines, and their dry selections were good, but, in our subjective opinion, were not outstanding. I did like the Sangiovese. The pricing was a little lower than wineries further north or in Charlottesville. The server was quite pleasant. Certainly worth a stop - you will find something that you like.
