Took a boat ride from Interlaken and chanced upon Spiez. I fell in love with this small little town immediately. Most people would give this place a miss as they probably have the tendency to complete the boat ride from Interlaken to Thun and vice versa. If you have ample time, I would encourage you to alight at the Spiez ferry and take a walk around the town before hopping back to the boat or to Spiez train station.
Just around the corner of the Spiez ferry, there is the Schloss Park and Spiez Schloss. Head up there and you will enjoy a beautiful view of the town and the Marina. It was wonderful observing children and families having fun in the waters on a hot summer day. Its a pity that I did not manage to visit the museum at Spiez Schloss due to time constraint.
Spiez may not be as big or as well known as Thun or Interlaken, but it definitely has its own unique charm and I look forward to return to this small little town again!

We came here on Sunday and surprisingly you could barely see one on roads. It was nice since we could wander around the town and take pictures without worrying about bothering others. Right after you came out of the train station, you may look down the whole town, and it took us about 30 minutes staying there just to take photos. It was covered with snow and it was freezing cold, but it looked just amazing!
We believe the town will be amazingly gorgeous as well in summer and we highly recommended a visit in town!

As others have said, it's a little bit of a walk from the train station but it's well worth the walk. We had two young children with us but the parks on the way to the castle helped us with the walk.
The castle grounds are fantastic, great views of the lake. Admission to the castle was CHF 30 for all of us which gave us access to the art gallery and museum. It was really great going through the castle. The top floor in the tower was fantastic. The walk back to the train station is tough since its up hill but it's not far.

Spiezer Rundwanderweg is a footpath located in Spiez, a little town in the lakeside of Thunersee Lake, in Bern Canton, in Switzerland. This path is very beautiful and you can relax, walk and see very nice views of the castle, vineyards and the lake. Also, when we arrived here (in August-2018), in the surroundings there are a music festival, so this place was very funny. A very nice walk to see the most important points in Spiez.

Few minutes away from the pier and about 30 steps and small slope (should be completely manageable for most ages), Rundwanderweg offers a panoramic view of the marina and Spiezsee. There is a cafe in front of the castle. Nice to get a rest if you don't like the crowds from the pier. There is also a small and lovely rose garden on the way up and another garden at the back.

We visit Spiez twice and this seems the only landmark for whole Spiez. It is a tiny small quiet town. From here to SBB need walk upper road about 20 Mins. The Bus stop the service.

The strolling way along Thurensee lake is full of charm. The town is equally charming and the green colour of the lake adds a lot to the charm.

If I come by boat from Merligen, where does the Rundwanderweg begin and is there a map available to buy somewhere please?
