Good and bad

This is rather a large market, and it has lots of the horrible sellers with fake gods, however it also has local sellers with really nice stuff, so you justare to navigate!

Markets
Mar 2019
Typical market which travels the island to various towns. Nice setting but certainly not different from any other market. Normal stalls that you would expect.

A part of the holiday
Jan 2019 • Couples
Tuesday marked in Arguineguin is a part of the holiday - whatever you buy something or not. The marked can be crowded - and you will probably find something to buy - and a lot of stuff you realy do not need. Can be crowded - but that is marked-life. Worth a visit.

Travelling sellers - mix of artisanal and fake goods
Jul 2018 • Family
Big market in the car park on the harbourfront in Arguineguin. Mainly selling fake designer stuff, wallets, souvenirs... One or two stalls selling fruit and veg, spices (aimed at tourists), kids clothes, towels etc. One memorable stall had a man making little glass ornaments before your eyes and selling them for not too much money. Most of these traders can also be found at other markets, e.g. Mogan. Didn't buy anything apart from churros con chocolate from the churreria Ligia just metres from the market. Interesting to walk around if you have some spare time but not totally worth making time for, unlike the market in Teror, which has more local produce and is a nicer town overall.

Tuesday artisan market & market
Aug 2018 • Friends
This is quite a commercialised market selling counterfeit designer goods, toys, belts & wallets, table cloths etc and some local produce/products.
The artisan market is situated in the square (accessible via the steps leading up to the square) near the beach at Calle de Lajilla and the market is a 5 minute walk away, just past the fish market. It's really typical of markets you'll find all over Spain.

Some good locals selling, some bad non locals

Got the bus here from Playa del Inglis. Spent about 45 to 50 minutes wandering the stalls. Usual fair. Bought some sunglasses, leather belts and a wallet. Some stall sellers have fixed prices and these are often the true locals. Didn't get into bartering with others and didn't like the way they try to get your business. Good as a add on to rest of the day but don't go here just for the market.
We then went to the harbour and got tickets for sea ferry to Port Mogan. All in all a good day but the market was just average at best

Not worth a visit but....

These stallholders move round the island. Unless you are looking for good leather items, it's not worth a special visit. However Arguineguin maintains it's old charm and is worth a visit.

Only 200 metres away up the small hill that overlooks the port is an elevated promenade where you can find some superior crafts and produce.

"Fixed price" stallholders are less pushy
Nov 2017 • Couples
I love markets!
We got the bus from Puerto Rico and were a bit concerned about knowing where to get off but no need - the bus driver shouted "mercado!" and everyone got off and we just followed the crowd!
We soon discovered that the stallholders who have no prices displayed tend to be the pushy ones who initially state a vastly inflated price and will rapidly come down to one which is much more reasonable if you are prepared to go along with the play-acting. From this type of stalls, we ended up with a leather wallet (for him) and a pretty dress (for me). Not sure that either of us got a bargain but will be a reminder of our holiday.
Then you've got the stallholders who are probably fed up with tourists trying to haggle and have signs saying "fixed price". Here you are much more able to look at your leisure without being pressured and I bought a very pretty multi-coloured scarf for just 5 euros.
This is more of a "tap the tourist" market than a fruit-and-veg type market but I enjoyed it nonetheless - more so than the Friday market in Mogan, although Mogan is the prettier place.

Market - Tuesday

Awful market. Full of rubbish. Nice town with a few beautiful cafes overlooking the sea.
Very easy to take the bus there from Maspalomas.

Very average. No one was buying. Not great, wish I'd stuck to mogan..! Taxi from puerto rico was six euro. There also road works both ways so be careful about travelling peak.
