About
The Hams Caves are 10 million years old, but mankind has only been able to enjoy their beauty since they were discovered in 1905 by the speleologist Pedro Caldentey Santandreu (1886-1950) while he was digging for onyx, a precious stone abundant in the region. In 1910 he produced electricity to illuminate the cave before electric lighting had reached the village of Porto Cristo. Using a water mill, a dynamo and a water tank, he generated 16 hours of electric current to enable visits to the caves. Come and discover the rest of the history of the Hams caves

    Great visit with Dinosaur Land
We recently visited Hams Caves with a visit to Dinosaur Land while on holiday in Majorca. The caves were good and is split into two parts, in the first cave you hear the history of the caves being discovered and a little about how they form, then walk up to a higher part of the caves to watch a video about the Big Bang. You then go to another cave for a walk through and then a musical show by a lake. Very pretty. Each side of the caves takes about half an hour so not too long with young children. As to be expected in caves there are a lot of steps involved and the ground is uneven. The whole time you’re in a group and moved from video to video and told where to go and when, we didn’t experience any waiting around or delays. It’s also lovely and cool in the caves!
Thank you very much for your comprehensive review, we are very glad that you had a great family day together with us 🤩.

    Certainly worth a visit
Very impressive caves! The presentation about the history and discovery is interesting and relevant to the location and caves, the Big Bang film and music scene less so, but still offer an interesting viewpoint on the caves. Certainly worth a visit and the smaller groups give you a more intimate experience. We didn’t do the Dino park, but can imagine it is a good combination for the extra 5 euros if you have kids to entertain :).
Thank you very much for leaving us a review of your experience with us, we value all of them in order to continue improving day by day. We hope to see you again and this time in Dinosaurland too 🥰.

    Decent caves, odd experience
The caves are pleasant, but it's just a weird experience. They take you into the caves and then you sit and watch a video. The video starts by stating the Big Bang happened 13.7 million years ago (it was 13.7 BILLION), and it's an ominous, weird video in the first place. Then you walk through and eventually get to a "cave / light show" which is nothing more than a weird video of people singing opera. The video was clearly made about 40 years ago. Stop with the videos or update them, then you'll get better reviews. That stuff was sad.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We're glad to hear that you found the caves pleasant, but we're sorry to hear that the video presentations did not meet your expectations. Feedback like yours is invaluable as we strive to improve the visitor experience. We will definitely take your comments into consideration for future improvements. We hope that, aside from this aspect, your visit was enjoyable and that you were able to appreciate the natural beauty of the caves. Thank you again for your visit and your honest review.

    Spoiled nature
First of all the guides were very helpful and informative. The cave was beautiful but the intro video and the music in the end of the tour was waste of time. I would recommend that they let visitors enjoy the cave by themselves instead of in groups.

    Worth visiting
Interesting place with a lot to see. Definitely worth visiting. Guides speak English, so there's no problems with communication. However, it was feeling a little bit rushed, there was not a lot of time to appreciate, but overall is nice. Near the entrance they take a picture of you, which you can buy after.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for recognizing the interesting aspects and worth of visiting our caves. We're glad to hear that the language barrier was not an issue and that our guides could assist you in English. We appreciate your feedback regarding the pace of the tour; we strive to balance the flow of visitors with providing ample time to appreciate the cave's natural beauty. The photo opportunity at the entrance is indeed a way to keep a memory of your visit, and we hope it serves as a pleasant reminder of your time with us. We'll take your feedback into account as we continually work to improve the visitor experience. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future for a more leisurely exploration!

    Amazing place
Was let in early, the guides tried to explain everything in Spanish, German, French and English. Got a good explanation of the origin of the cave. Amazing caves with loads of different rooms. At the end there was a classical consent that I could do without, but over all it was an amazing place. Could spend more time inside.
Thank you for taking the time to review your visit! We're glad to hear that you appreciated the effort our guides put into explaining in multiple languages and that you found the information about the origin of the cave insightful. It's wonderful to know that the diversity of the cave rooms impressed you. While the classical concert at the end wasn't to your taste, we're happy that overall, you enjoyed your time and felt it was an amazing place. Your feedback is invaluable, and we hope to see you again!

    Fun Experience for All!
I would recommend this spot for couples, solo travelers, and families. It was something to do and it was cool to learn about the cave and it wasn't too crowded. Heard some negative reviews about the Drach Caves and I'm happy we came here instead. Price was budget friendly as well.
Thank you for your positive feedback and for recommending our caves to couples, solo travelers, and families alike! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed learning about the cave and appreciated the less crowded atmosphere. It's great to know that you found the experience budget-friendly and that you chose us over other options. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another visit or to explore more of what we have to offer. Thank you again for your kind words!

Short cave tour, but fun nonetheless
While reading the reviews for both this cave and the Drach caves we were worried about the amount of tourists. We decided to take these caves and took the earliest 10am slot. Everything was very relaxed and our group was only 15 people. The tour did only take about an hour and if you combine it with the combo of Dinosaurland right next door the price is quite good. For our family of a 2 and 5 year old the tour length was perfect. There are 2 video screenings: the first is a history about the cave and the other a genesis story about the universe and life on earth. That last one is a visual spectacle of projections on the cave wall. The tour ends with a small underground lake and some music that is played while you look at the shore at some videos that are again projected on the cave walls. The tour is not recommended for strollers or wheelchairs as there are many stairs and some pathways are quite narrow. In summary a fun visit with caves that are slightly different than others we’ve visited in Europe. Come early and relax. As a bonus the restaurant that is located at the grounds is quite good. Yes, they sell burgers and fries, but a a high quality level. Tastes like actual meat with good quality fries and nuggets. Not to be compared with McDonalds or alike.
Thank you for your comprehensive review and helpful insights! It sounds like you made a great decision opting for the earliest tour slot to avoid the crowds, creating a more relaxed experience. Your detailed description of the tour, including the video screenings and the stunning visual spectacle, provides valuable information for future visitors who might be considering this as a destination. It's also great to hear that the tour length was just right for your young family, and that the combination ticket with Dinosaurland offered good value. Your advice regarding accessibility is important for others to consider, especially those with strollers or wheelchairs. Furthermore, your comments about the on-site restaurant add another positive aspect to the experience, noting the high quality of the food compared to typical fast food options. Overall, it sounds like your visit to the caves was not only enjoyable but also memorable, thanks to the unique features and thoughtful planning. Your recommendation to arrive early and relax, along with the bonus tip about the restaurant, will surely help others plan their visit. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!

    Nice caves
The caves were really beautiful and the price was okay. You enter a smaller cave first and you get a video of the discovery of the caves and then they project the creation of the universe of the walls of the caves. After that you enter the main cave and follow the path to the bottom, passing several points where you get an explanation in different languages. At the bottom, there is a musical show. It was beautiful in the caves, but to me, all the extra stuff (the origin story, the musical show) was unnecessary and not an added value. I visit the caves to see the caves, not a projection.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience of the cave visit! It's great to hear that you found the caves themselves beautiful and the pricing reasonable. Your feedback about the additional elements like the video projections and musical show is invaluable, as it helps to understand different visitor preferences. While some may appreciate the added multimedia aspects as a way to enhance the experience, it's clear that others, like yourself, prefer to focus solely on the natural beauty and geological features of the caves. Your perspective is important and will be considered in how we present and possibly adjust the experience in the future to better align with the diverse interests of our visitors. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback, and we hope your overall visit was enjoyable despite the aspects you found unnecessary.

The naturally beauty of the caves is amazing and great to visit and see. However charging 22 euro per person is not worth it. You spend more time watching videos than getting to admire the caves. You feel very rushed as you have an hour to see everything. It would be a much better experience if people could go at their own pace and get rid of the genesis video and the Mozart “concert”. Let people learn about the caves and not try to keep them entertained with irrelevant videos.

I attended the caves with my wife and 2.5 year old along with my immediate family. We were also visiting Dinosaurland but were asked if we wanted to do the caves at the discounted "bundle" rate, so we said why not. We didn't know anything about the experience. There was nothing explained prior to booking, nor were there any details.

When we went down the hundred or so steps, we were told that the ticket is actually related to a timed entrance, which was 30 minutes away. We weren't best pleased with this, given we have a toddler who does not like to be told to sit still in a small area. This would have been the first point at which we wouldn't have purchased the tickets.

When we finally were allowed in, we were all told to sit down again to watch a movie of some sort. So again we had to sit around as the screening space slowly filled up. It was at this point we asked the guides if we could just wonder on without watching the movie and they told us that it was a guided tour through the caves with multiple stops. This was not explained before either and would have been a second reason not to go in with a toddler.

It was at this point that we said we would just leave and go to Dinosaurland as it would be a miserable experience for us and the tour group to have an upset toddler throughout the hour long guided tour.

I would've have just taken it for what it was but when I went back up to the ticket desk, and explained the situation, they refused to refund our tickets as we had purchased as a bundle. When I asked to refund the bundle ticket and rebuy just the Dinosaurland ticket, they said no. The person at the desk was also quite rude and unempathetic to the situation. I'm not sure if this is legal even but given the stress of the previous 45 minutes, I just wanted to get away from them before I caused a scene.

All in all, we paid €50 as a group for absolutely nothing and it was the worst customer experience I had on my two week trip in Mallorca.

We are very surprised by your comment and want to clarify that we do not share your opinion at all. We have investigated internally and found no evidence that our ticket office staff acted in the manner you described. Our policy has always been to provide a satisfactory experience for all our customers. We ensure that the general conditions are clearly explained before purchase, especially when it comes to combined packages. Each ticket includes a specified entry time, and visits are scheduled, not allowing for a free roam inside the cave. This is part of our protocol to ensure the safety and quality of the experience for all visitors. Had there been any confusion, we would have appreciated it if you had communicated immediately so we could address the situation appropriately. We understand that managing a small child can be challenging, but the decision to leave the visit and the reasons behind it are not attributable to us and are beyond our will and control. We believe the description of your experience is negatively exaggerated and does not reflect the service we provide. The film and guided tours are an integral part of the Cave experience and a beloved feature by our customers, and many visitors with small children have enjoyed these activities without issue. It seems unfair to assess a complete experience based on just a few minutes lived, as this does not reflect the overall quality of our service. Fortunately, the vast majority of our visitors enjoy a fantastic experience in both Dinosaurland and the Caves, and our numerous positive reviews confirm this.

This attraction is way over priced at €22 pp, which is extortionate for the 30mins in the caves. Don’t get me wrong the caves are impressive but you spend more time sitting watching poor presentations that have no relevance. Go elsewhere.

Total waste of 22 euros per person. It would probably take 15-20 mins to see everything but they spin it out with the tour which includes a pointless film at the start about the Big Bang (sort of) which has nothing to do with the caves then end it with some music and lights which again had nothing to do with the caves. Save your money and avoid this place.

I booked my trip through jet2 rep at the hotel. She advised a half day trip and I’d be back by 2.30 for lunch. The trip actually lasted all day getting back at 15.45. We changed coach once on the way there. Twice on the way back! All the time sitting around in the coach waiting for others and another coach to turn up. We actually spent less than an hour in one cave when in fact the trip was quoted as both caves. We were rushed through told by staff to keep moving. Not able to stop and wonder at the caves or take decent photos. No stopping at the cafe on exit as we had to be back at the coach for return journey. Only time to grab a bottle of drink. On the way to the caves we stopped at a pearl factory on an industrial estate. No one mentioned a pearl factory. I was told a waterfront stop in Porto cristo! There was only a machine that dispensed cans. We were there an hour! A family didn’t have any change for the machine and staff at the factory would not help them out: luckily us other passengers had change. So an all day trip, no chance to get decent food or drink and less than an hour at one cave! In all my years of travelling and many trips this has by far been the worst!

We booked a 2 pm tour on March 6th and were met by the most obnoxious ticket agents. I am a senior citizen with 3 total joint replacements and move a little slowly. I was told, "that's not our problem". The guide refused to shine her flashlight for me when the pathway was dark. She said, " go back, if you can't keep up."
These guides give Mallorca a bad name and should not work with people or animals. They will loose lots of business for Hams.
